Stausholm Runs into Aces

Level 10 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Martin Stausholm
Martin Stausholm

Franck Makaci opened to 2,500 from under the gun before Martin Stausholm made it 10,000 on his direct left. Action folded back to Makaci who reraised to 20,000. Stausholm quickly jammed for 70,000 total and Makaci snap-called.

Martin Stausholm: {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}
Franck Makaci: {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}

Stausholm needed a lot of help and a lifeline as extended as he paired his king on the {k-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{5-Spades} flop. However, the {8-Spades} turn and {9-Spades} river kept Makaci ahead and Stausholm exited the room.

Akkari Forces Fold From Sharma

Level 10 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Picking up the action on the {k-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{9-Hearts} turn, Rajat Sharma checked in the cutoff. Andre Akkari bet 6,200 on the button and picked up a call by Sharma. Another check by Sharma on the {j-Spades} river followed and Akkari now bet 27,000. That sent his table neighbour into the tank as the TV crews started rushing to the table.

Sharma pondered about the decision for half a minute and folded.

Juanda Pays Off Drory

Level 10 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Joseph Drory raised from the small blind to 2,500 and John Juanda called from the big blind.

Juanda check-called bets of 2,000 and 4,000 on the flop and turn for the final board to show {10-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{4-Spades}{k-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}.

Dory fired a third barrel for 6,500 on the river.

"You really want me to call, huh," said Juanda as he thought over his options. He called and Drory turned over his {k-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} for a pair of kings and Juanda mucked.

Top 5 Poker Movies You Must Watch

Level 10 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Over the past century, poker has permeated pop culture, especially when it comes to motion pictures. Long before the “Poker Boom”, and even before the World Series of Poker (WSOP) was a thing, poker had already made its big screen debut.

Over the decades, poker fans have been treated to a plethora of poker movies, some good and others not so much. Some well-received poker films include the western comedy Maverick (1994), Survivor host Jeff Probst’s debut film Finder’s Fee (2001), the improv-inspired The Grand (2007), indie comedy darling Hitting the Nuts (2010), and the high-profile Hollywood flick Molly’s Game (2017).

All of those are among the best poker movies of all time, and if this article was “Top 10” instead of “Top 5 Poker Movies,” chances are they’d make the final list. However, the PokerNews crew got together, along with input from social media, to determine the top five must-watch poker movies of all time.

Wigg Finds a Fold

Level 10 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

On a three-way turn board of {6-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{k-Hearts}, Ehsan Amiri in the big blind checked to Anton Wigg in late position, who bet 11,500 into the 15,000 pot. Mikita Badziakouski on the button made the call while Amiri folded, and the two went heads-up to the river {2-Diamonds}.

Wigg checked to Badziakouski, who went into the tank for some time before finally putting the rest of his chips into the middle, totaling 15,000.

Wigg thought about it for a good while but eventually elected on a fold and Badziakouski was pushed the pot.

Marques Chops With Sharma

Level 10 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

In a three-bet pot to the {5-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{4-Spades} flop, Andre Marques bet 11,500 out of the small blind. He picked up a reluctant call by Rajat Sharma in middle position and then repeated his bet sizing on the {k-Hearts} turn for Sharma to call.

Both checked the {10-Spades} river and Marques announced queens, flipping over the {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}. Sharma had the equally strong {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} and they chopped the pot.
