Dvoress Pulls Further Ahead

Level 1 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Daniel Dvoress added even more chips to his growing tower while Kathy Lehne dropped back. The next bigger pot on the table saw 27,000 invested by Dvoress from under the gun and Nick Petrangelo on the button with the flop showing {8-Clubs}{3-Spades}{2-Hearts}.

The {10-Clubs} followed on the turn and Dvoress now upped his sizing to 45,000, which forced a fold from Petrangelo.

Dvoress Wins Healthy Pot Against Lehne

Level 1 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Daniel Dvoress
Daniel Dvoress

On a heads-up turn of {9-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{4-Hearts}, Kathy Lehne on the button and Daniel Dvoress in the small blind invested 23,000 before the {2-Clubs} turn was checked through. Dvoress also checked the {8-Spades} on the river and Lehne bet 35,000.

A couple of seconds later, Dvoress tossed in a single chip for the call and Lehne revealed the {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts} for a busted nut flush draw. Dvoress had that beat with the {6-Clubs}{6-Hearts} for a pair of sixes to increase his stack early on.

Pardo Gets Value From Peters

Level 1 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Adrian Mateos raised to 2,500 and received no fewer than three callers in Nick Petrangelo, Kathy Lehne and Daniel Dvoress. The {9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} flop checked to Petrangelo, who bet 3,000 and won the pot.

Over on table one, a bigger pot of around 50,000 emerged to the {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{j-Hearts} river. David Peters checked in the cutoff and Juan Pardo used one time bank before leading 10,500. Peters eventually called and mucked upon being shown the {a-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} for aces and nines.

Welcome to Day 1 of the 2023 PCA $100,000 6-Handed High Roller

Isaac Haxton
Isaac Haxton

The business end of the 2023 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure has been reached and just two tournament days remain at the Convention Centre of the lavish Baha Mar Resort in The Bahamas. Several high-stakes competitions have already crowned winners with the $250,000 PSPC Super High Roller and the $25,000 PCA High Roller currently underway.

Those big names of the international poker scene who are seeking another challenge can do so in the final $100,000 7-Handed High Roller, which is set to get underway at 8 p.m. local time. This two-day event will feature a level duration of 30 minutes throughout and Day 1 includes ten levels with a 20-minute break after the conclusion of levels three and six.

A star-studded field is expected once more and late registration for the tournament remains open until the start of Level 13 on Day 2 at approximately 1:30 pm local time. As usual, the high-stakes contest features a 30-second shot clock and participants will receive at least four time bank extensions with further ones awarded upon the start of even-numbered levels.

Among the high-stakes tournament winners during the 2023 PCA so far are Isaac Haxton, David Yan, Conor Beresford, Jonathan Jaffe, and Justin Bonomo. Haxton's victory came in a tournament with the same price tag as he chopped the $100,000 PCA Super High Roller three ways with Seth Davies and Adrian Mateos, ensuring a seven-figure payday for the trio.

Cards will be in the air at approximately 8 p.m. local time with blinds of 500/1,000 and a big blind ante of 1,000. All players entering right from the start will have 150 big blinds at their disposal as the tournament features a starting stack of 150,000.

Stay tuned for the high-stakes action from The Bahamas, as the PokerNews live reporting team will be on the floor to provide as many key hands as possible en route to crowning a winner in the final two days of the 2023 PCA series.
