Day 1cd Completed

Poker Palace Summer Championships
Poker Palace Summer Championships

From a Day 1C field of 96 entries, there were 32 players that moved on to Day 2 of the $1,150 Main Event here at the Summer Championships at the Poker Palace. The total prize pool is yet to be announced as late registration will continue until the end of the second level on Day 2, though it has been confirmed it will be over $300,000.

Leading the pack today was Dean Boskovic Sr (426,500), who bagged the biggest stack of all the flights so far, followed by Marc Seymour (340,000), John Kominos (320,500), and Michael Brahim (259,500).

Boskovic’s stack kept growing today as he stayed at or close to the top of the stacks all day. Boskovic will also be looking to make it a father-son double here after his son Dean “Junior” Boskovic took down the $2,500 High Roller event just two days ago, while Seymour recovered well after losing almost half his starting stack in the first level after flopping trips but being rivered by a boat.

In the turbo Day 1D flight, 16 players ultimately advanced to Day 2 of the Main Event in the late stages of the day. Danny Ayoub bagged the biggest stack with 258,000, followed by James Kinnane (224,000) and Harry Basle (155,500). Together with the 26 from Day 1A, 26 from Day 1B, and 32 from Day 1C, exactly 100 players have currently made their way to the second day.

Day 2 will kick off at 12 p.m. local time and late registration will be open for the first two levels of the day. You can follow all the action right here on PokerNews.

Hetherington Out

Level 10 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Nearing the end of the day, with a tower or two of chips, Dean Boskovic raised UTG to 8,000, and Stephen Hetherington liked this spot to put his last 33,000 chips at risk.

Rafe Aman on the button then 4-bet to 60,000, leaving about 45,000 behind.

Boskovic thought long and hard before folding and we went heads-up.

Hetherington: {5-Hearts}{5-Clubs}
Aman: {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}

The board ran out {10-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{7-Hearts} {9-Spades} {k-Diamonds} with no help to Hetherington and he was eliminated.

Boskovic told the table he folded pocket nines and would have taken out both players.

Mate Against Mate

Level 10 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Michael Oscuro min-raised to 4,000 and Rehman Kassam 3-bet to 16,000, leaving not much behind.
It folded back around to Oscuro who instead of just calling, chose to put him all-in.

Kassam: {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}
Oscuro: {6-Hearts}{7-Hearts}

The board ran out {a-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} and Kassam lives to fight another hand.

Hetherington Hangs On

Level 9 : 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Players are trying to either survive or chip-up as we move into the final level of Day 1C.

Craig Blight raised to 4,000, then Ian Logan went all-in for 33,500. Play folded to Stephen Hetherington on the button who also went all-in, but for less than half of that amount. Blight folded and we saw the cards on their backs.

Hetherington: {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}
Logan: {a-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}

The board ran out clean for Hetherington and he doubled up to just over one-quarter of the average stack.

$300,000 And More

Level 9 : 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

The prize pool for the Main Event has now officially gone past $300,000 and entries are still coming in for turbo Day 1D. Players can also still late register for the Main until the end of the second level on Day 2.
