Ladies Good for Hammermueller

Level 5 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Konstantin Hammermueller opened for 2,200 from the hijack and was called by Leo Worthington-Leese from the big blind.

Worthington-Leese check-called for 4,000 on the {4-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{9-Spades} flop before leading out for 5,200 on the {4-Clubs} turn. Hammermueller called and Worthington-Leese checked the {4-Spades} river. Hammermueller bet 9,500 and Worthington-Leese tanked for a minute before he called.

Hammermuelller turned over {q-Spades}{q-Hearts} for a full house to win the hand after Worthington Leese folded.

Big Stacks from Around the Room

Level 4 : 400/800, 800 ante

Konstantin Hammermueller, Leo Worthington Leese, and Milan Bajmoczi have all amassed big stacks early on with 55 entries and 44 players remaining on Day 1a.

Set of Four for Van Loo

Level 4 : 400/800, 800 ante

Carlos Chang opened for 1,700 from under the gun and was called by Vincent Kaubek from the hijack, Matthew Madanat from the cutoff, and Tim Van Loo from the big blind.

Two players checked before Kaubek fired out for 2,700 on the {4-Spades}{j-Clubs}{2-Hearts} flop. Madanat raised to 8,000. Van Loo cold-called and the other two players folded.

Van Loo checked the {q-Clubs} turn and Kaubek bet 12,000.

"How much?" asked Van Loo to Kaubek who moved his hands away from his stack so his opponent could get a visual look at his chip stack.

Van Loo eventually called before both players checked the {9-Diamonds} river.

Madanat had {a-Clubs}{j-Spades} for top pair but Van Loo won the hand with a set turning over {4-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}.

Lucky River for Nietsch

Level 4 : 400/800, 800 ante
Alexander Nietsch
Alexander Nietsch

Alexander Nietsch opened from the button before he called a three-bet to 5,100 by Goran Hristovski from the small blind.

Hristovski bet 6,100 on the {10-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} flop and Nietsch called. A similar pattern emerged on the {5-Diamonds} turn with Nietsch calling a bet of 10,100.

The {2-Diamonds} river completed the board. Hristovski bet 2,000 with about 14,000 left behind. Nietsch paused for a minute before he jammed for about 20,000. Hristovski snap-called only to get some bad news.

Nietsch rivered a straight with {3-Diamonds}{3-Spades} to crack Hristovski's cowboys and send him to the rail.

Set of Snowmen for Langer to Oust Franke

Level 4 : 400/800, 800 ante
Tammo Franke
Tammo Franke

Tammo Franke opened for 1,400 from the lojack and was called by Kate Scisel from the cutoff. Simon Langer made it 5,800 from the big blind and Franke four-bet shoved for 16,000. Scisel folded and Langer called.

Tammo Franke: {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}
Simon Langer: {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}

Franke paired his king on the {8-Hearts}{k-Spades}{9-Hearts} flop but was far behind the set Langer nailed. Franke was still alive with two pair on the {a-Clubs} turn but the {4-Clubs} river sealed his fate.

"Good luck," said Franke as he walked away from the table.

The Main Event is on its first 10-minute break. The Day 1a field grew to 48 entries with 42 players remaining just before the break.

Peukert Busts Dorfinger

Level 3 : 300/600, 600 ante

Andreas Dorfinger checked on the {10-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{6-Hearts} board before Stefan Peukert bet 11,600 into a pot of around 16,000. Dorfinger tanked before he opted to jam for a little more. Peukert snap-called and the players showed their cards.

Andreas Dorfinger: {a-Clubs}{q-Hearts}
Stefan Peukert: {a-Clubs}{8-Clubs}

Peukert's two pair held after the {k-Hearts} river completed the board and Dorfinger was unable to last until the first break.

"Good luck all," said Dorfinger as he left the table.
