The poker gods sure love to giveth and then taketh away. Or, at least they did to Landon Tice on Monday during the $3,000 PokerGO Cup Showcase at the PokerGO Studio in Las Vegas.

Dubbed the "Child of the Sim" by Joey Ingram, Tice was on the winning end of a set over set situation early during the Day 1b session. But he'd lose more than half of the big stack he accumulated an hour later in another set over set confrontation.

In a heads-up pot on a board of 434Q, Kent Stephens checked and Peter Mugar bet 60,000. Stephens called.

Stephens checked again on the A river and Mugar checked back. Stephens announced that he had a missed draw as Mugar showed 55 to win the hefty pot with just a pair of fives.
