The poker gods sure love to giveth and then taketh away. Or, at least they did to Landon Tice on Monday during the $3,000 PokerGO Cup Showcase at the PokerGO Studio in Las Vegas.

Dubbed the "Child of the Sim" by Joey Ingram, Tice was on the winning end of a set over set situation early during the Day 1b session. But he'd lose more than half of the big stack he accumulated an hour later in another set over set confrontation.

Stephens checked again on the A♥ river and Mugar checked back. Stephens announced that he had a missed draw as Mugar showed 5♣5♠ to win the hefty pot with just a pair of fives.

Gheba checked on the flop of 9♥K♣Q♥ and Seward continued for 12,000. Gheba called. Gheba checked again on the 7♦ turn and Seward sized up to 48,000. Gheba check-raised to 300,000 and Seward called off with less.
