Rheem's Hand-Reading Skills Pay Off
Chino Rheem opened to 17,000 in early position and Qinghai Pan three-bet jammed a stack of around 90,000 from the next seat before Anthony Zinno four-bet jammed a stack of around 170,000 behind him.
"What's going on, boys?" Rheem said before showing off his hand-reading abilities. "We've got ace-queen here and ace-king over there? I kind of want to gamble. But I think I'm in second place. I fold."
Qinghai Pan: A♣Q♣
Anthony Zinno: J♦J♥
Rheem, who folded 10♦10♥ face-up, was right on two of three counts. Pan did have ace-queen and he was indeed in second place. But he would've ended up in third as the board ran out 4♣A♦3♣3♥4♥ to give Pan the winner.
"You should've called!" said Pan.
"Jack, you doubled up. Don't be greedy," replied Rheem.
It was an impressive read by Rheem, but not quite as impressive as the time he called his opponent's exact hand down to the suits at EPT Barcelona.
