Our Final Table is Set!

Roy Bhasin takes a commanding chip lead into tomorrow's final table
Roy Bhasin takes a commanding chip lead into tomorrow's final table
The final table is now set and it should be a very interesting and entertaining affair, featuring some of Australia's most successful PLO players. Roy Bhasin will enter with a commanding chip lead and will be looking to add to the PLO title he captured at the Victorian Championships here at the Crown Casino in August. He'll have to overcome some tough opposition including Jamie Pickering, who has a WSOP PLO runner-up finish to his credit, and a short-stacked Manny Rodrigues, who also captured a title at the Victorian Championships.

The chips counts at the end of the day's play are as follows:

Roy Bhasin - 238,000
Koray Turker - 90,500
Jamie Pickering - 83,000
Anthony McNamara - 65,500
Paul Triandafillou - 59,000
James Kronos - 56,000
Abel Cabrera - 46,000
Con Tsapkounis - 40,000
Manny Rodrigues - 14,500

Join us tomorrow from 4 p.m. local time as we bring you the conclusion of The PokerNews Cup Event #3: $240 Pot Limit Omaha with Rebuys. We look forward to your company then!

Day 1 Completed

Vince Moro Bubble Boy

Vince Moro was all in preflop for his tournament life with Paul Triandafillou taking the shot at bursting the bubble.

When the cards were tabled Moro held the lead with his {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{K-Clubs}, but Triandafillou had plenty of ways to win with his {9-?}{8-?}{7-?}{5-?}.

The flop was all Triandafillou when it arrived {7-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{6-Spades}, giving him a flopped straight! The turn was the {7-Spades} improving him to a full house but Moro still held two outs to survive. But the river was the {5-Clubs} to eliminate Moro at 3:30am as the bubble boy, as the remaining nine players proceeded to bag and tag their chips. They are now through to tomorrow's final table!

Bubble Watch

Our short stacks who are under pressure to avoid becoming the bubble boy are:

James Kronos - 38,000
Abel Cabrera - 37,000
Manny Rodrigues - 20,000
Vince Moro - 19,000

Interestingly most of the chips in play are on the feature table, which includes chip leader Roy Bhasin and the second-biggest stack in Koray Turker. On table two, Jamie Pickering is the biggest stack but only with a touch over 60,000 chips.

Bhasin Bullies on Bubble

From the button Roy Bhasin raised to 11,000 preflop and Manny Rodrigues made the call out of the small blind.

The flop came down {A-Spades}{6-Spades}{2-Diamonds} and Rodrigues checked to Bhasin, who immediately slid enough chips into the middle to put the short stack to a decision for his tournament life.

After several minutes in anguish he folded and flashed a mixture of paint cards that hadn't connected at all with the flop. Rodrigues is now one of the short stacks with only around 20,000, while chip leader Bhasin is now up over 210,000 chips.

Play Continues Hand for Hand

Since we are on the bubble the action has slowed significantly as you might expect. Play is currently being dealt hand for hand.

Our chip leader is still Roy Bhasin with close to 200,000 chips.

We're on the Bubble

We are down to our last ten players on two tables of five, so that means we are on the bubble of both the money and the final table!

The next player eliminated will go home with nothing but a headache as the final nine will return tomorrow at 4 p.m. local time, with a guaranteed payday of $2,217.

Of course one of these players will be taking home the trophy and the tidy prize of $22,170.
