From across tables, Jim Sachinidis yelled out to Sam Youssef, "Sam, how many chips you got?"
"Well, none at the moment!" replied Youssef as he reached into his pocket for another $200. Youssef held but it wasn't enough to overcome an opponent's on a board of in another huge six-way all in confrontation that also left Harris Pavlou and Sam Khouiss reaching for more cash to rebuy!
Amidst all of the rebuy madness, we've just witnessed the first casualty of the day. Joe Cabret was the executioner and won the pot with a full house, sevens full of fives, to move to 14,500 on the day.
We overheard many of today's competitors talking before the start of today's tournament about how many 'bullets' they'd brought with them to play with and we heard everything from two to 70! It's becoming an issue of machismo to see who can notch the most rebuys. One thing's for sure -- the players are enjoying themselves out there!
There's more action in the Crown Poker Room at the moment than on the set of a Chuck Norris movie. Guys are literally playing every hand and getting their chips into the middle with less than marginal holdings. Event 3's prizepool will likely surpass that of yesterday's $230 buy-in no limit hold'em event, which had four times as many players!
"I'm playing no look again!" said Aytunc Tezay to which Michael "Sticky" Guttman retorted "You probably play better that way!"
This didn't slow Tezay down as the next hand he was at it again, but this time he had a little more success, making a full house holding on a board of .
"I'm going to win the tournament no look tonight!" said Tezay just as young gun Julian Powell took his seat at his table.
Manny Stavropoulos is off to a good start early, having won a monster 10,000 three-way pot against Michael 'Sticky' Guttman and Mitchell Carle.
Carle opened the pot with a raise to 175 after three players had limped in before him. Stavropoulos called, as did Scott Reddie and Russell Watkins before Guttman reraised to 1,175. Action then folded back around to Carle, who opted to move all in. Stavropoulos moved his chips in as well, as did Guttman, following folds from Reddie and Watkins.
Carle:
Stavropoulos:
Guttman:
The board filled out giving Stavropoulos a full house and skyrocketing him to 10,000 in chips. Both Guttman and Carle double rebought after the hand.
Aytunc Tezay is causing plenty of fireworks at his table. In a recent hand he potted preflop in the dark, and after getting three callers, he potted the flop of , again in the dark!
Paul Taylor was the only one to put up further resistance as he raised enough to put Tazay all in. It wasn't much more to call, but before Tezay had acted, Taylor revealed his cards - for just a pair of queens.
Tezay then revealed his cards one at a time.........before the table queried with the dealer what he was doing as he hadn't yet declared a call. Tezay decided to call anyway after looking at only two of his cards, with his other two cards being .
The turn was the and river the and Tezay clapped his hands in delight at rivering two pair, but Taylor's kings and queens were still good to take the pot as Tezay reached for his third rebuy!
