Huynh Speeds to 100,000

Johnny Huynh opened with a raise to 2,100 from early position before Arthur Stevens moved all in for 12,000 from late position. The action was then passed to Jason Speedy in the big blind who moved all in over the top for 40,000 in total. Huynh made the call in a massive three-way all in clash!

Huynh: {K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}
Stevens: {A-Spades}{K-Spades}
Speedy: {Q-Spades}{Q-Clubs}

The board ran out {K-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{A-Clubs}{J-Clubs} giving Huynh a set of kings to send both Stevens and Speedy to the rail. Huynh is now up to 100,000 chips!

Three-Way Showdown

Martin Stewart got thing started with a raise to 1,800. Both Trevor Wollard and Andrew Demetriou came with him to the flop.

The dealer spread out the first three board cards: {Q-Hearts} {Q-Spades} {4-Spades}. All three players checkd.

Fourth street came the {3-Hearts}. Demetriou led out into the pot with a 1,000-chip bet. Stewart raised to 3,500, and both opponents put in the call.

The last card off was the {K-Diamonds}. Demetriou gave up control now, checking the action over. Stewart checked as well, and Trevor Wollard siezed the chance to bet 4,500. Both Demetriou and Stewart called, putting a 30,000-chip pot up for grabs.

Showdown:
Wollard: {K-Spades} {J-Spades}
Demetriou: {Q-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds}
Stewart: MUCK

Demetriou's triple queens were the best hand, and he pulled in a substantial pot, moving up to 62,000 in chips.

There's A Sherif In Town

In a limped pot the flop was {A-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} when the action checked to Karib Karib on the button who fired out 1,700. Sherif Derias was the lone caller in middle position.

The turn was the {A-Spades} and again the bet from Karib, this time for 2,400, was called by Derias. They went to the river where the {7-Diamonds} peeled off. Derias checked and Karib fired for a third time for 3,000. Derias made the call and revealed {J-Spades}{10-Diamonds} for a rivered straight to take the pot as Karib could only muster {3-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}.

Derias is up to 50,000 with Karib falling to 30,000.

The Rich Get Richer

It Doesn't Add Up for Veenboer
It Doesn't Add Up for Veenboer
Three players saw a flop of {4-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} {6-Hearts}. Jordy Veenboer checked, as did Tino Lechich, and Dory Zayneh made a bet of 2,000. Veenboer then check-raised all in for 9,650, prompting Lechich to duck out. Zayneh wasn't so easily pacified though, as he put in the call, having his opponent covered by a mile.

Showdown:
Veenboer: {4-Spades} {5-Diamonds}
Zayneh: {7-Hearts} {7-Clubs}

Veenboer was in trouble, as some of his outs were no good against Zayneh's overpair and straight draw. The turn stole even more outs, as the board paired with the {6-Spades}. The river was an unhelpful {3-Spades}, sealing the Dutchman's fate. He is sent to the rail, while Zayneh adds those chips to his ever-growing stack. He sits with just about 140,000 now and is easily the chip leader.

Vos Looking Flushed

On a board of {8-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{J-Clubs} Marwan Nassif led out for 3,000 and Michael Tran made the call. Vos then popped it up with a healthy raise to 20,000. Nassif called for his last 15,425 as Tran got out of the way.

Vos tabled {10-Clubs}{7-Clubs} for a flush but Nassif tabled {A-Clubs}{3-Clubs} for the nut flush. The hand wasn't over as Vos had one out to the straight-flush, and although the river was a nine, it was the wrong color as the {9-Hearts} fell. Vos slips to 25,500 as Nassif doubles to 41,000.

Zayneh The Destroyer

Dory Zayneh
Dory Zayneh's defence of his 2007 PokerNews Cup Main Event title simply could not be going any better at this point. He has just eliminated another opponent to be in great shape as the clear chip leader at the midway point of Day1b.

We're not certain where the chips went into the middle, but the result was Zayneh had flopped Broadway with his {A-Spades}{Q-Spades} on a flop of {K-Clubs}{10-Spades}{J-Diamonds} against an opponent who tabled {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts}. The turn and river were {2-Diamonds}, {4-Diamonds} and Zayneh now sits with 125,000 chips.

A Second Jack Likely Saves Beldus Some Chips

Danny Hyunh and Marek Beldus were heads up on a flop of {2-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds}. There were about 7,000 chips in the middle, and Hyunh led out for another 8,000. Beldus made the call.

The turn came the {J-Hearts}, and Hyunh moved all in for his last 12,200 chips. Beldus thought for a minute before folding, flashing {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Spades} as his cards went into the muck. Hyunh opened up his {6-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} and proceeded to pull in the pot. He is up over 30,000, while Beldus is down to 52,000.
