Big Slick Proving Popular

Mat Hawker has found a double up with his pocket tens winning a race with Ben Savage's {A-Spades}{K-Spades}. The board was spread {9-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{4-Clubs} to double Hawker to 6,000.

Meanwhile Stewart Scott is on the verge of leveling his match with Jarred Graham. They got their chips in preflop with Scott's {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs} in dominant shape against Graham's {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts}. The board fell {8-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{4-Diamonds} to leave Graham with just 600 in chips.

Delaney Leads Walsh

Ben "CNT_Crusher" Delaney has taken a 1-0 lead over Lisa Walsh with a bit of luck.

On a board of {7-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{j-Spades} Walsh shoved for 2,500 sending Delaney into the tank. After thinking it through Delaney made a huge call tabling {A-Hearts}{2-Spades} for just ace-high.

Walsh liked her chances with {Q-Clubs}{7-Clubs}, until the {4-Diamonds} spiked on the river to give Delaney an inside straight.

He moves into a 1-0 lead.

Guzzardi Is King

Guzzardi's good
Guzzardi's good
Michael Guzzardi is on the verge of becoming the first player into the quarter finals. Already leading his match 1-0, he has taken a commanding advantage in the second rubber.

All the chips went in the middle preflop with Guzzardi's {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs} in front of Bruno Portaro's {A-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}.

"It's ok, I'm going to suck out Michael," said Portaro.

He didn't. The board ran out {6-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{j-Spades}{4-Diamonds} to move Guzzardi up to 8,500 in chips.

Portaro has some work to do, to avoid becoming the 11th member of the live team to hit the rail.

Hawker Runs Into Rockets

Ben Savage limped from the button before Mat Hawker raised it up to 300. Savage made the call and they saw a {A-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} flop.

Hawker led out for 525 and Savage made the call. The turn was the {2-Diamonds} and both players checked to see the {2-Spades} fall on the river. Hawker checked and then called the 600-chip bet of Savage, only to muck when Savage revealed {A-Clubs}{A-Spades} for the rockets!

SiCkO Ahead

Bruno Portaro
Bruno Portaro
Michael Guzzardi has taken a 1-0 lead over Bruno Portaro.

The players got the chips in the middle on a flop of {9-Spades}{4-Clubs}{7-Spades} with Guzzardi holding {a-Hearts}{9-Clubs} and Portaro with {4-Spades}{6-Hearts}.

"What am I doing?" said Portaro said to himself.

The turn {7-Spades} left Portaro drawing to just trips, and he wouldn't improve enough with the {6-Spades} river.

When they counted the chips down Portaro was left with just 200, and went behind 1-0 a short time later.

Don't Flip With Jarred

Don't Flip With This Man
Don't Flip With This Man
"Mate, what are you doing trying to flip against Jarred?" came the cry from Joel Dodds on the rail as Jarred Graham gained the early ascendancy in his match after taking down a big pot against Stewart Scott.

Catching the action on a flop of {A-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}, Graham had moved all in over the top of Scott's bet of 600. Scott sat in the tank and made the call with {A-Clubs}{5-Spades} as Graham flipped {5-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for straight and flush draws.

The turn was the {7-Hearts} but the river was the {2-Diamonds} to give Graham the flush and the double up. Scott is down to around 1,500 in chips.

Big Show Doubles Back From The Felt Again

Almost down to the felt once again Steve "The Big Show" Topakas has found another double up.

Steve "StevoL" Leonard raised enough to put the Big Show all in preflop. Topakas made the call for his remaining 1,250 chips and the players tabled their cards.

Leonard {k-Spades}{3-Spades}
Topakas {A-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}

The {2-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} flop was just as Topakas liked and the {6-Hearts} turn and {7-Clubs} river caused him no trouble.
