Chhoy Cut Down

Chhoy: takes a hit
Chhoy: takes a hit
The money was in the middle between Peter Mordaunt and Koun Chhoy; Mordaunt held {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} but was trailing the {A-Spades}{A-Hearts} of Chhoy.

The flop of {K-Spades}{6-Hearts}{10-Clubs} brought more hope to Mordaunt, but the turn of the {2-Spades} missed and kept Chhoy in the lead.

However the dealer peeled off the {J-Clubs} on the river to fill the straight and see Mordaunt double through.

Mordaunt is now up to 30,000 while Chhoy is left with just 10,000 in chips.

Delaney Evens Out Dunst

Delaney: doubles through
Delaney: doubles through
An opponent raised it up to 1,200 before the flop from early position, only to see Ben 'CNT_CRUSHER' Delaney reraise all in for 12,000. Tony 'bond18' Dunst made the call as the initial raiser got out of the way.

Dunst: {J-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}
Delaney:{K-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}

The flop of {K-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} was gold for Delaney and the pot was all his when the turn and river ran out {7-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}.

Delaney doubles through to 26,000; Dunst shrinks to 25,500.

No Outs For Benson

Gary Benson Eliminated
Gary Benson Eliminated
You know a player is in trouble when you hear the table shout, "You've got a four for a chop!"

That was the situation as we spotted Gary Benson walk away from his table, only to be called back in the glimmer of hope for a split pot to stay alive in the tournament.

The board read {5-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{A-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} with Benson finding that his pocket jacks had no outs to win once the ace spiked on the flop against two opponents who had both tabled {A-?}{J-?}. The four was Benson's only hope but it wasn't to be as the {8-Diamonds} landed and Benson continued his walk to the nearest exit.

100 Players Remain

Nguyen: looking good
Nguyen: looking good
As we tick over the halfway mark of this level, we're able to report amongst the 71 eliminations so far, Kent Hunter, Jackie Glazier, Kristian Lunardi and Aleks 'Banana Thief' are also on their way to an early dinner break.

However the man that the other 99 players are chasing right now is Bruce Nguyen who is on 93,000. Having put on an impressive display on the Tony G Celebrity Shootout final table to finish sixth, the young man has taken control of table 31 and looks in prime position for a Day 2 berth.

Neilson Runs Kings Into Aces

Nothing fazes Mr Neilson
Nothing fazes Mr Neilson
Catching the action on a flop of {4-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{4-Spades}, a player under the gun checked to Daniel Neilson in middle position who fired out 4,700. A late position player then moved all in for 22,000 forcing the third player out of the hand, but Neilson made the call.

Neilson: {K-Spades}{K-Clubs}
Opponent: {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}

The turn was the {Q-Clubs} and river the {4-Clubs} and Neilson takes a big hit to slip to 24,000.

Cabret Cooked

Cabret: eliminated
Cabret: eliminated
On a flop that read {5-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{6-Spades}, Jie Gao opened for 1,300. Joe Cabret went all in for 13,050 and was called down.

Gao:{K-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}
Cabret: {4-Spades}{3-Spades}

Though Gao had the pair, Cabret had an open-ended straight draw and flush draw to give him some hope. It began to fade when the turn came the {3-Clubs}, then Cabret's tournament life was snuffed out on the river {K-Hearts}.

Damm Gambles For Big Stack

Catching the action on the turn with the board reading {3-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}{9-Spades} Kenneth Damm popped his opponent's 2,000-chip bet to make it 7,000 to go. He was met with an all-in response for 23,475.

After a few moments of consideration, and safe in the knowledge that there's "always the repechage", Damm made a gambling call.

Damm: {5-Hearts}{6-Hearts}
Opponent: {A-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}

Needing a four, an eight or a heart for a monster stack, Damm bricked out on the {3-Diamonds} river to be left with just 9,000 in chips.

Lechich Has Left The Building

Lechich: eliminated
Lechich: eliminated
We just caught the tail end of a hand between Tino Lechich and Edison Nguyen - Lechich had tabled {A-Spades}{5-Spades} but was trailing behind Nguyen's pocket sixes.

The board bricked out queen-high; Lechich's day is done.

Damm He's Good!

Catching the action on a flop of {Q-Clubs}{6-Spades}{A-Spades}, Michael Pedley checked to Gary Benson who tossed 2,100 into the pot. Kenneth Damm made the call, as did Kane Sherwell, as Pedley stepped aside.

The turn was the {7-Diamonds} and Benson checked to Damm who took charge with a bet of 7,200. Sherwell made the call as Benson let his hand go.

The river brought the {7-Clubs} and Damm fired a tantalizing 6,300, which Sherwell was happy to call with his {A-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}, but it wasn't enough as Damm had {A-Diamonds}{7-Spades} for the full house.

Damm is up to 45,000 as Sherwell slides to just 11,000.

Khouiss Climbing

Khouiss: keeps on keeping on
Khouiss: keeps on keeping on
Sammy Khouiss has moved up to 88,000 in chips after eliminating another opponent.

The opponent raised to 1,100 under the gun and the action folded around to Khouiss who made it 3,000 to go from the big blind. The opponent snap-shoved and Khouiss insta-called.

Khouiss: {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}
Opponent: {A-Clubs}{K-Spades}

The board ran out {K-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{5-Spades} to send the opponent to the rail and put Khouiss back on top of the chip counts.
