Are We At The Final Table Already?

After a couple of tables breaking recently, there are some huge tables that have formed which are sure to provide plenty of fireworks.

How's this for a lineup - Gary Benson, Michael Pedley, Julius Colman, Dave Lee and Van Marcus. They are also joined by International star, and last year's PokerNews Cup runner-up Kenneth Damm, and Victorian Poker Championships runner-up Kane Sherwell.

Good luck getting chips on this table!

Keeton Doubles Through

Keeton: doubles through
Keeton: doubles through
We just managed to catch the end result of a hand between Sean Keeton and Kane Sherwell.

With the board reading {4-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}, the money all went into the middle - Kane held {A-Clubs}{J-Diamonds} for two pair but Keeton rolled up {J-Spades}{J-Clubs} for the full house.

As a result, Keeton has now doubled up to 38,000 in chips.

Guzzardi: crazy action for a crazy guy!
Guzzardi: crazy action for a crazy guy!
With 118 players left into today's Day 1a flight, the tables are starting to condense and as a result there are some interesting lineups forming that are sure to generate action.

Andrew 'Adgee' Jeffreys, Tony 'bond18' Dunst, Ben 'CNT_CRUSHER' Delaney and Matthew 'OnMyVPlates' Pearson are sharing space around the felt on table 27.

Bruce Nguyen has joined Billy Seri, Koun Chhoy and Peter Mordaunt on feature table 31 while Tino Lechich and Jim Sachinidis are on either side of the dealer on table 14.

Robert Wang and Antonis 'Toothpick Tony' Kambouroglou have also been moved and are now seated on table 28 with Ben Savage, Jackie Glazier and Michael 'TheBigSiCkO' Guzzardi.

Stone-Cold Nuts For Jordanou

Bill Jordanou
Bill Jordanou
On a flop of {7-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{2-Clubs} it was the player in the small blind leading the betting for 800 with Bill Jordanou and the button making the call.

The turn was the {4-Diamonds} and again the small blind led out for 1,700. Again his bet was called twice, to see a river {6-Spades}.

The small blind checked and Jordanou fired 2,500. The button then moved all in for 4,650 forcing a fold from the small blind, but Jordanou snap-called with his {9-Spades}{10-Diamonds} for a rivered straight and the stone-cold nuts as his opponent flashed {Q-?}{8-?} and headed to the rail. Jordanou is now up to 38,000 chips.

Mastorakos Sets Up To 50k

With a limp under the gun, Jim Mastorakos raised to 1,200 before the big blind popped it to 3,000. The UTG-player folded with Mastorakos making the call.

They saw a flop of {10-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{5-Spades} and the big blind led out for 5,000. Mastorakos made it 15,000 to go before the big blind moved all in over the top. Mastorakos made the call with his tournament on the line.

Mastorakos: {K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}
Opponent: {J-Hearts}{J-Clubs}

The turn was the {3-Diamonds} and river was the exclamation point as the {K-Spades} arrived to give Mastorakos a set and a huge double up. He's now up to 50,000 chips.

Cohen Crushed, Henry on a High

Cohen: will be having nightmares for a while ...
Cohen: will be having nightmares for a while ...
Clint Cohen had a dream start to the day, taking the overall chip lead on 61,500 within the first two levels, but has just been eliminated shortly after a monster hand that played out on table 29.

Trevor Henry raised it up to 3,400 from early position, only to see another opponent raise all in for 14,100. Cohen called, but Henry came over the top for 32,700 in total. Cohen made the call and the cards were tabled:

Henry: {A-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}
Opponent: {K-Spades}{K-Hearts}
Cohen: {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}

The board ran out {2-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{7-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}, eliminating the all-in opponent and leaving Cohen with just 800. He was busted a short while later.

Meanwhile Henry has skyrocketed up the chip counts, now with 80,000 in his stack.

Huntly Becomes The Hunted

Huntly: tough day at the office
Huntly: tough day at the office
The action folded around to Dennis Huntly who limped in for 300 from middle position before the flop. Nick Georgoulas raised it up 1,800 and Huntly called and it was heads-up to a flop of {J-Hearts}{9-Spades}{5-Diamonds}.

Huntly checked, Georgoulas fired out 3,600 and Huntly went into the tank before open-mucking {5-Clubs}{4-Clubs}.

"I was in front," said Huntly.

"Then why didn't you call?" Georgoulas replied.

Huntly is now down to 22,500 while Georgoulas is cruising on 57,000 in chips.

Nyberg Eliminated

The end is Ny-berg
The end is Ny-berg
Dean Nyberg moved all in for his last 12,000 holding {Q-Spades}{9-Spades}, only to be called down by Peter Mordaunt who held {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts}.

The flop of {A-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{J-Diamonds} put Mordaunt further in front, but the {8-Diamonds} fell on the turn to give Nyberg some hope with a gutshot straight draw.

However, the river spiked a repeat {J-Clubs} and Nyberg's day was done.
