Vos Vanquished; Duck Done

Mark Vos has been sent to the rail after running his pocket nines into an opponent's pocket tens. A ten on the river was salt into the wound as Vos exited the Crown Poker Room.

Tim Duckworth was also recent eliminated. He doubled up his short stack after the break, but couldn't double twice and was sent to the rail when his pocket sixes were unable to outdraw an opponent's pocket tens.

Ozzie Chips Up

Billy "The Croc" Argyros limped in before a middle position player popped it up to 2,100. Ozzie Yildiz made the call on the button as the big blind and Argyros also came along for the ride.

The all-important flop landed {4-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{A-Clubs} and play was checked to the preflop aggressor who made it 6,000 to continue. Yildiz made the call as the other two players got out of the way.

The turn brought the {5-Hearts} and it checked to Yildiz who fired out 8,500. His opponent gave up the fight and Yildiz took it down to chip up to 38,000 chips.

Snap-Check By Bernard As Mifsud Extends Lead

James Bernard raised to 1,550 from middle position and found himself two callers to see a flop of {5-Spades}{A-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}.

Action checked to the preflop aggressor who fired 2,200. One fold before Michael Mifsud made the call out of the big blind.

The turn brought the {5-Clubs} and Mifsud checked to Bernard who quickly rapped the table behind.

"That's what I call a snap-check!" laughed Cliff Lee as the {6-Clubs} hit the river. Mifsud fired out 3,500 and Bernard made a reluctant fold.

Mifsud flashed the {A-Hearts} as Bernard announced that he folded pocket jacks.

Botta Applies Pressure

Daniel Botta does it better
Daniel Botta does it better
Daniel Botta has taken down a pot in a recent hand on table 14.

It was three-way action into a flop of {3-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{6-Spades}, the opponent in the small blind checked as did Botta from the big blind. The opponent in the cutoff position fired out 2,125, the small blind folded but Botta immediately announced that he was all in.

The opponent looked over at him quizzically, then back down at his chips and pondered calling for about two minutes before eventually open-mucking {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}. Botta grinned and rolled up {7-Spades}{5-Spades}.

Kings Good For Vos

Trung Tran opened with a raise to 1,550 from middle position before Mark Vos shipped it all in from late position. It was only 4,550 in total, so Tran tossed out calling chips and the cards were on their backs.

Tran: {A-Spades}{3-Spades}
Vos: {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}

The board was spread {9-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{7-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{9-Spades} and Vos doubles through to 10,000 chips. Tran slips to 22,000.

Cabret Heads To Dinner On Positive Note

With a raise to 1,400 and a reraise to 5,000 from Joe Cabret in front of him, the action was with Camil Debsia who looked down at {a-Hearts}{K-Hearts} and quipped, "If it wasn't the dinner break, I'd call," as he tossed his cards into the muck.

The original raisor also folded and Cabret took it down, flashing {J-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}, on his way to dinner.

Ramakrishnan Eliminated

Raj Ramakrishnan busts out of the 2009 PokerNews Cup for the second time
Preflop Cliff Lee limped up from the button, the Raj Ramakrishnan completed from the small blind and Michael Mifsud checked his option in the big blind.

The flop came {8-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{5-Spades} with Ramakrishnan checking to Mifsud who bet out 1,000. Both Lee and Ramakrishnan called.

The turn fell the {q-Hearts} and again it was Mifsud who bet out 3,500 after Ramakrishnan checked. Lee called the bet, and then Ramakrishnan moved all in for about 18,500.

Mifsud tanked before calling with {6-Hearts}{9-Hearts} and Lee folded.

Ramakrishnan's {Q-Clubs}{6-Spades} was in the lead but would need to dodge Mifsud's outs to both a straight and flush.

The river {7-Hearts} completed the flush for Mifsud and he raked in another huge pot to move 165,000.

Ramakrishnan hits the rail.
