Marchese Chips Up

Sometimes it's easy being Marchese!
Sometimes it's easy being Marchese!
Having started the day with 78,800, Herman Marchese is now sitting on around 180,000 in chips after eliminating two opponents.

The money was all in the middle after some heavy betting preflop. We caught the action as the cards were tabled:

Marchese: {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}
Opponent 1: {Q-Spades}{Q-Hearts}
Opponent 2: {J-Spades}{J-Hearts}

The board ran out {9-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} and Marchese's aces held up - the rest, as they say, is history.

Tens Do It Again For Karamalikis

Jonathan "xMONSTERxDONGx" Karamalikis
Jonathan "xMONSTERxDONGx" Karamalikis
It seems that we are writing the fourth or fifth hand today where Jonathan "xMONSTERxDONGx" Karamalikis has gone to war holding pocket tens. This time it was all in on the flop of {10-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{2-Clubs} against Sylvain Trives.

Karamalikis: {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}
Trives: {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}

Trives had the overpair but the set of Karamalikis was well in front. The turn was the {J-Spades} and river the {7-Hearts} and Trives is eliminated as Karamalikis is now out to 270,000 chips.

Walsh Wiped Out, Glazier Gone

Glazier (pictured): eliminated
Glazier (pictured): eliminated
Lisa Walsh has been spotted on the rail after being busted out in these early stages of Day 2 but is certain to head up to the high stakes cash game tables.

We weren't able to catch her bustout, but Jamie Glazier has also been added to the casualty list after moving his last few chips into the middle with {A-Hearts}{5-Spades}, only to find himself dominated by the {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} and {J-Spades}{J-Diamonds} of two opponents.

The board bricked out {4-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{6-Hearts} and the jacks held up.

Seri Slams Kepitis

Billy Seri raised to 4,200, Jai Gao made the call before Matthew Kepitis moved all in for his last 28,000. Seri made the call as Gao stepped aside.

Seri: {J-Spades}{J-Diamonds}
Kepitis: {A-Clubs}{A-Spades}

The flop of {10-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} was kind to Seri as it gave him hope with an open-ended straight draw but the turn was even kinder as the {J-Hearts} gave him a set and the lead in the hand. The river blanked the {6-Diamonds} and Seri takes it down to move to 91,000 and send Kepitis off to the rail.

Kerr Doubles Through

Kerr: hanging on
Kerr: hanging on
Scott Kerr has had a less-than-favourable start to the day, but has managed to double up on table 50 after his {Q-Hearts}{J-Clubs} won a race against an opponent's {3-Spades}{3-Diamonds} on a {4-Clubs}{7-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{A-Hearts} board.

Kerr started the day with 51,400, however he has some work to do as he has only come back up to 28,000 in chips.

Powell Perishes

Julian Powell Eliminated

Julian Powell has been sent to the rail. It was a battle all day for Powell who just couldn't get things moving in the right direction. He eventually succumbed when he pushed his last 19,000 with {K-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} into an opponent's {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds} as the board ran out {2-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}.

Also joining Powell on the rail is Melbourne Champs winner Todor Kondevski who was recently eliminated.

Bruce Nguyen Bolts Up Counts

Nguyen: happy days!
Nguyen: happy days!
Bruce Nguyen has soared up to the top of the chip counts on 218,000 in chips after eliminating the impressively named Andrey Vgnorum.

Nguyen made it 20,000 to go before the flop, Vgnorum shoved for his last 35,500 and as the others got out of the way, Nguyen snap-called.

Nguyen: {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}
Vgnorum: {K-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}

The board ran out {K-Spades}{4-Clubs}{3-Spades}{9-Hearts}{K-Hearts}, giving both players trips but Vgnorum was vanquished by Nguyen's ace kicker.

Kane Sherwell KO'ed

Kane Sherwell has been eliminated at the hands of Joshua Thompson after getting the last of his money into the midle with pocket jacks, ony to be called by Thompson's {A-Spades}{K-Spades}.

However the board would run out {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{A-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{3-Hearts} to give Thompson trips and send Sherwell to the rail.
