Sclavos Saved By The River

A collective gasp just went over the tournament floor as the short stack, Eric Sclavos doubled up with a dramatic river card that ensured that hand-for-hand play would continue.

Action folded to Jason Brown in the small blind who raised enough to put Sclavos all in, and he made the call for his last 27,500.

Brown: {3-Hearts}{9-Clubs}
Sclavos: {K-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}

Nothing changed on the {4-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{J-Hearts} flop but it was the {9-Spades} on the turn which left Sclavos with three outs to survive.

The gasp came when the {K-Hearts} landed on the river to give Sclavos the double up! The bubble continues!

Bubble Watch

All eyes are currently on Eric Sclavos who sits with 24,000 and just three big blinds as the short stack of the field. The blinds are about to come around and eat him up once more so we expect some action, one way or the other, very soon.

Bubble Tension

We're now on the money bubble, with 33 players remaining. The next player eliminated will go home with nothing but a story to tell as the remaining 32 players will have 4,000 reasons to celebrate.

Interestingly a little tension has emerged, which is not uncommon for the bubble situation.

Stephen Doolan had the clock called on him preflop and when it timed out his pocket queens were declared dead.

Meanwhile Carl Booth is currently serving a one orbit penalty. After Emad Tahtouh raised to 20,000, Booth put in the re-raise to 100,000 and Booth quipped, "Whatever you do, I'm calling!"

The floor was called and by this stage Tahtouh had folded, but the penalty was enforced as Booth's comments were binding and considered acting out of turn.

Hand-for-hand play continues across the five tables.

Brown Joins The Party

Jason Brown raised to 20,000 from the cutoff before Linas Leonovas moved all in from the button. The blinds folded and Brown instantly called.

Brown: {A-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}
Leonovas: {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}

The board ran out {3-Spades}{7-Spades}{10-Hearts}{9-Spades}{2-Hearts} and the aces hold to send Leonovas to the rail in 34th place.

Meanwhile New Zealand's Jason Brown, who qualified for this event on Party Poker is now one of our chip leaders with over 400,000.

It's been a big week for Party Poker, who are one of the biggest supporters of this event, with the recent signing of Aussie Millions Champ Stewart Scott to their stable in preparation for a big Aussie Millions satellite campaign over the coming month. It could get even bigger if Jason Brown can take down the $250,000 prize here at the PokerNews Cup!

Amato No More

Tony Dunst was the preflop aggressor, moving all in with Albert Amato making the call for his last chips with {8-Spades}{8-Hearts}. Dunst tabled {J-Hearts}{9-Spades} and was happy enough to be racing.

Dunst was even happier when the board ran out {A-Hearts}{K-Spades}{9-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{7-Spades} to give him trip nines and eliminate the 2009 Victorian Champs Main Event winner from the tournament.
