Not How He Expected to Survive

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Philipp Gruissem shoved under the gun for 53,000 and got snap-called by the player in the big blind. Gruissem held {2-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} and his opponent {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs}. The {9-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} flop was a sweat for Gruissem but he looked cooked after the {6-Clubs} turn left him counterfeited. However, a {9-Diamonds} river meant it was a chop as both played nines full of sixes.

Raul Martinez Eliminated on the Bubble

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Markus Durnegger raised under the gun and called the all-in shove of big blind Raul Martinez, who had 72,000.

Martinez: {a-Spades}{q-Spades}
Durnegger: {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}

The {7-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{9-Hearts} flop had one player calling out to "chop it up." However, the {5-Spades} turn and {2-Clubs} river left Martinez busto on the bubble and the rest of the players in the money.

Kruk Doubles Through Margolin

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Christopher Kruk
Christopher Kruk

Christopher Kruk three-bet a raise from Timur Margolin, and then called a push for 315,000 total. The cards remained face-down until all action was completed on the other tables, and Kruk started chatting with Ari Engel and Andrew Chen.

"It's okay. Maybe we're flipping," quipped Kruk before the hands were tabled.

Christopher Kruk: {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs}
Timur Margolin: {J-Diamonds}{J-Spades}

The {A-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{5-Hearts} flop all but sealed it, and after the {10-Diamonds} turn it was done. The meaningless {J-Hearts} on the river drew some "ooh's" from the table, and Kruk started stacking up.

Clock Paused

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

The 4,000/8,000 level has been finished but the bubble is still intact. Play will resume hand-for-hand and the level will be freezed until one more player busts.

Durnegger Picks Off a Three-Barrel

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Markus Durnegger defended his big blind from a button raise by Sergio Cabrera and check-called a bet on the {q-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{2-Hearts} flop. He check-called 135,000 more on the {k-Clubs} turn and the river was an {a-Hearts}. Durnegger checked a final time. Cabrera used a time extension and then slid in 250,000. Durnegger called.

Cabrera showed {6-Clubs}{5-Spades} for an airball, and Durnegger won with {a-Clubs}{7-Clubs}.

Another Bubble Double

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Moritz Dietrich moved all in for 47,000 and was called by Parker Talbot in the big blind.

Talbot: {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}
Dietrich: {j-Diamonds}{j-Spades}

"Jack!" shouted Sam Grafton. "Jack of hearts."

Close. It was the jack of clubs flopping on {8-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{2-Hearts}. The {3-Hearts} turn sealed the double of Dietrich, much to the delight of Grafton as he and Talbot needled each other in jest.

All-In Stays In

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

On the stone bubble, both Benny Spindler and Gianluca Speranza were all in and at risk.

Benny Spindler was all in with 60,000 from the cutoff and Steve O'Dwyer called from the big blind.

Benny Spindler: {J-Spades}{J-Hearts}
Steve O'Dwyer: {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}

Spindler faded all the outs O'Dywer picked up along the way and doubled up on {Q-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}.

In the next hand, Gianluca Speranza was all in with his short stack from the big blind. Both Parker Talbot and Francois Evard called to put him at risk. The active players checked down a {Q-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} board.

Speranza showed {A-Spades}{A-Clubs} and beated both other players, who also made one pair hands with {K-Clubs}{6-Hearts} and {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}.
