Moreno Finds the Call Button for Piles

Level 4 : 150/300, 50 ante
Andrew Moreno
Andrew Moreno

Three players built a pot of about 12,000 preflop, and Jorma Nuutinen bet 4,000 from the big blind on the {6-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} flop. Andrew Moreno called on the button. The turn was an {a-Diamonds} and Nuutinen kept the aggression coming with 9,000. Again, Moreno called. On the {8-Hearts} river, Nuutinen put in his remaining 19,225.

This gave Moreno serious pause. He thought things over for a couple of minutes, as the shove was for most of his own stack — he'd have about 10,000 if he called and lost. Finally, he splashed in a call.

Nuutinen slapped down {5-Spades}{2-Clubs} for an airball. Moreno showed {j-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}.

Pissarides Sends Garcia Home

Level 4 : 150/300, 50 ante

Two live satellite winners, Menelaos Pissarides and Fernando Garcia, were tangling with the board reading {5-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{K-Spades}{4-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}. On the river, Garcia bet 8,225, only to be met by an all in shove from the Cypriot.

Garcia agonized over his decision before flicking in the rest of his stack, about 15,000. Pissarides wasted no time in flipping over {Q-Clubs}{Q-Spades} and clapped his hands in excitement. Garcia angrily flung {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} in the muck and was out of the tournament.

Robert Heidorn opened for a raise on the button and got three-bet to 2,000 by the small blind. Big blind Andre Akkari put in 5,300, and Heidorn shoved for just 75 more. The small blind mucked.

Akkari: {a-Spades}{10-Diamonds}
Heidorn: {j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}

The board ran out {6-Spades}{4-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{9-Spades}, and Heidorn collected his double.

Stuart McDonald Eliminated

Level 4 : 150/300, 50 ante

Australia's Stuart McDonald, who finished 16th in the EPT12 Barcelona Main Event for €61,800, has been eliminated from the tournament. According to McDonald, a player had opened to 700 and a loose player had three-bet to 1,700 in middle position when he found {A-}{K-} in the small blind. The Australian opted to call with a stack of 21,000 and the initial raiser called as well.

After two checks on an {A-}{J-}{X-} flop with two clubs, the reraiser bet 2,800 and McDonald was the sole caller. On the {J-} turn, McDonald check-called 4,500. The river was a blank and McDonald was put to the test for his last 12,000.

The Australian called it off for his tournament life but was shown {J-Hearts}{4-Hearts} for trip jacks to end his run in this PokerStars Championship Main Event.
