Luo Squeezes, Quoss Survives All-in

Level 12 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

It’s getting to do or die time for some of the 65 remaining high rollers as the blinds continue their inexorable rise. This means it is push or fold poker for some of the shorter stacks.

So far that’s working out for Xixiang Luo, who has just won a decent pot without showdown. Pre-flop it was Zdravko Duvnjak who opened the action with a raise to 5,200 from middle position with the UKs’ Danny Tang re-raising to 16,600 from the button before Luo squeezed all-in for 86,600.

Duvnjak folded immediately before Luo’s stack was even counted down and while Tang looked sorely tempted but he too eventually let it go.

Another player who has just survived a recent all-in is Germany’s Fabian Quoss, who is lucky to still be in the running after the following hand played out.

Pre-flop it was Ryan Yum who was the initial raiser, making it 5,500 to go from middle position with the field’s sole remaining PokerStars Pro Felipe Ramos making the call from the button before Quoss moved in for his last 42,000 from the small blind.

Action folded back around to Yum, who re-shoved to isolate and after Ramos got out of the way the cards were turned over.

Fabian Quoss: {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}
Ryan Yum: {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}

Quoss was the at risk player with a dominated hand and it was not looking good for the German, until the board ran out {10-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{j-Hearts}{3-Clubs} for an anti-climatic chop. Three players who were not so lucky were Keisuke Hikosaka, Lee Hon Cheong and Lim Chin Wei who are all now no longer in the running.

The Sun is Shining for Dvoress

Level 12 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante
Daniel Dvoress and Nick Petrangelo
Daniel Dvoress and Nick Petrangelo

Liwei Sun raised to 5,500 from under the gun and Paul-Francois Tedeschi three-bet to 13,800 from one seat over. The action folded around to Daniel Dvoress in the big blind, who four-bet to 31,000. Sun moved all in for 43,000 and Tedeschi folded, while Dvoress called in a heartbeat.

Liwei Sun: {K-Spades}{K-Clubs}
Daniel Dvoress: {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}

The board came {Q-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{9-Hearts}{5-Spades} and Sun headed to the rail.

That hand boosted the stack of Dvoress to around 400,000, but it would get even better. Only a few minutes later, another chair was vacated and Dan Smith and Daniel Dvoress confirmed that Sofia Lovgren ran with pocket jacks into the pocket queens of the Canadian to ran out of chips as well.

Lebedev Wins From Zisimopoulos

Level 12 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

We caught a hand between Sergey Lebedev and Georgios Zisimopoulos with the former walking away a winner. Pre-flop it was Lebedev who opened the action with a raise to 5,500 from the cutoff and Zisimopoulis chose to defend from the big blind.

Lebadev c-bet 4,500 on the {a-Spades}{6-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} flop and Zisimopoulos checked-called keeping the action heads-up to the {5-Diamonds} turn.

This saw Zisimopoulos try to take control of the hand with a bet of 7,200 but Lebedev was not a believer and made the call quickly.

The {10-Clubs} river saw both players check and while Zisimopoulos turned over {7-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} this was not enough to best Lebedev’s {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs} and the Russian player scooped the pot to climb to 270,000.

Zhang Gets Coolered

Level 12 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

A blind on blind battle just occurred between Yang Zhang and Masaya Nakagawa saw the former get a little unlucky, at least when it comes to running a good hand into a great one.

Zhang got all his chips in pre-flop from the small blind with {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs} only to see big blind Nakagawa wake up with {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}. There was no help for Zhang on the flop, turn or river and he took a big hit, dropping down to a measly 19,000 and was eliminated shortly afterward while Nakagawa stacked up to 214,000. Another player who has recently hit the rail is Davidi Kitai.

Sammartino Doubles; Murthy Takes from Nakagawa

Level 12 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

The pocket jacks of JC Alvarado were already in the muck, with a board showing {A-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{8-Spades}{Q-Clubs}, the Mexican had to pay off the 38,800 of Dario Sammartino who held {A-Spades}{7-Spades}.

According to Morten Mortensen, Alvarado had three-bet out of the blinds and then bet the flop before both players checked the turn. Alvarado then pushed on the river and Sammartino called with top pair.

Live Satellite winner Neel Murthy continued to thrive in the last hand of the level and just took a big pot off Masaya Nakagawa. Preflop, Murthy raised to 4,500 and Nakagawa three-bet to 11,500 in the cutoff. On the {10-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{2-Spades} flop, Murthy check-raised to 35,000 and Nakagawa called before the {J-Spades} appeared on the turn.

Murthy bet 55,000 and Nakagawa used one time bank chip before calling. The {3-Spades} appeared on the river and Murthy announced all in. Nakagawa used his last time bank chip and eventually folded with five seconds remaining.
