And Yotsushika Doubles as Well

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 0 ante

Kazuhiko Yotsushika raised to 2,500 on the button and Hongjun Zhao called in the small blind. Fabian Geisel three-bet to 10,000 in the big blind and Yotsushika reluctantly called, while Zhao got out of the way. On a flop of {8-Clubs}{7-Spades}{6-Hearts}, Geisel bet the pot for 22,500 and Yotsushika moved all in. Geisel asked for a count, and it was 32,400 in total, which the German then called.

Kazuhiko Yotsushika: {10-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}
Fabian Geisel: {A-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{6-Clubs}

The {J-Spades} turn and {9-Diamonds} river didn't change the outcome of the hand, just improved Yotsushika to a straight, and he doubled to get ahead of Geisel in the counts.

Nguyen Short after Troyanovskiy Double

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 0 ante

On the three-way turn showing {A-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{10-Spades}, Edison Nguyen bet 6,500 and Vladimir Troyanovskiy moved all in for another 8,900 on top, forcing out Imad Derwiche who was also in the hand. Nguyen eventually called and the cards were tabled.

Vladimir Troyanovskiy: {K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{2-Spades}
Edison Nguyen: {A-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{J-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}

The river was a blank and Troyanovskiy doubled. Nguyen took another hit to the stack soon after, folding to a pot-sized river bet of Sam Greenwood, and fell down further in the counts.

Haxton Finds a Double

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 0 ante

Imad Derwiche limped in, as did Maksim Shuts, and Vladimir Troyanovskiy raised to 6,000. Only Derwiche called and the flop came {J-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{2-Spades}. Derwiche check-called a bet worth 6,000 before the {J-Hearts} on the turn provided a second pair on the board. Derwiche now bet 15,000 and Troyanovskiy folded.

Over on table two, Isaac Haxton raised the button and called the three-bet to 10,500 by Kenneth Wong. On the {Q-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{5-Clubs} flop, Wong bet 3,200 to put Haxton all in for the remaining stack, and Haxton quickly called.

Isaac Haxton: {Q-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{2-Clubs}
Kenneth Wong: {A-Hearts}{A-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{7-Spades}.

While Haxton had flopped the flush, the {J-Hearts} on the turn made things interesting again as Wong picked up four outs for a full house. A blank {3-Clubs} river failed to improve him and Haxton doubled.

Lau Bests Collado

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 0 ante

On a three-way turn showing {J-Spades}{J-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}, Jan Collado bet 6,500 in the big blind and Ka Kwan Lau called from early position, while Sylvain Loosli folded. The {4-Diamonds} fell on the river and Collado now bet 12,500, which Lau called within a few seconds only.

Instead of turning over his cards, Collado mucked instantly and Lau claimed the pot without having to show any of his cards.

Two New Faces After Dinner

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 0 ante

Maksim Shuts showed up with a new ticket in the hand right as the dinner break ended, and he was closely followed by Imad Derwiche. Shuts is on his second and final bullet for this tournament, while Derwiche is on the first entry.

The registration will remain open for the next two levels and close at approximately 10.30 p.m. local time.

In one of the first hands after dinner, Sam Greenwood raised and Derwiche called in the big blind. Derwiche bet the {J-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{5-Hearts} flop for 4,000 and Greenwood called before the Frenchman also bet the {Q-Clubs} turn for 6,000 and the {A-Hearts} river for 5,000. Greenwood called both bets and Derwiche showed {K-Spades}{Q-Spades}{9-Spades}{5-Diamonds} for a straight, which Greenwood had beat with {A-Spades}{10-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{5-Clubs} for a flush.

Nevanlinna Forces Out Yotsushika

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 0 ante

Jussi Nevanlinna raised on the button and Kazuhiko Yotsushika defended the big blind to then bet the {Q-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{10-Spades} flop for 5,000 into a pot of 6,500. Nevanlinna called and the duo checked the {J-Clubs} on the turn. Yotsushika made it 12,000 to go on the {8-Clubs} river and Nevanlinna raised it up to 40,000.

Yotsushika was taken aback and took around one minute before releasing his cards into the muck.

No Showdown in Sight

Quan Zhou
Quan Zhou

On the {A-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} turn with 15,300 in the middle, Oliver Weis checked and Edison Nguyen made it 15,200 to go. Weis checked his cards and then sighed while tossing them into the muck. Both players were almost even after the hand, separated by just one big blind.

Jan Collado has been slipping some as well, and also folded to a pot-sized bet by Shuo Li on a {J-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{10-Spades} turn. Li slowly but steadily increased his stack without showdown, joining the top of the leader board behind Quan Zhou.

The HK$206,000 Single-Day High Roller champion called a raise to 2,500 by Shao Me Yang from the big blind, Michael Song and Kenneth Wong in the small blind were also in the mix. On the flop of {A-Spades}{7-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}, Wong checked and Zhou's bet worth 5,800 took down the pot right there.
