Another Zhao Joins the Field

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 0 ante

Hongjun Zhao already participated in the HK$206,000 Single-Day High Roller yesterday and just showed up with a ticket in the hand. Soon after sitting down, Zhao would build his stack and that was partly due to the following hand.

Zhao min-raised to 2,000 and Fabian Geisel three-bet to 7,500. Kazuhiko Yotsushika called in the big blind and Zhao called as well. On the {A-Spades}{4-Clubs}{2-Hearts} flop, the action checked to Geisel and the German continued for 7,000. Only Zhao called and the {A-Diamonds} turn was checked through.

The {A-Hearts} river completed the board and Zhao bet 13,000. Geisel folded and Yotsushika asked Zhao if he had queens. Zhao formed a triangle instead and claimed to have had the case ace.

Shuts Eliminated by Zhou

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 0 ante
Maksim Shuts
Maksim Shuts

Felipe Ramos was able to improve his stack while Maksim Shuts soon after joined the rail.

Shuts was all in after the {8-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{3-Spades} turn and showed the {A-Hearts}{A-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{9-Spades} for aces and deuces, while Quan Zhou flipped over {Q-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{J-Spades}{2-Clubs} for trips deuces. Only one of the two remaining aces in the deck would help Shuts, yet the {10-Clubs} river was a blank.

Zhou's Sixes and More

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 0 ante
Isaac Haxton
Isaac Haxton

On an already completed board showing {7-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds}, Isaac Haxton bet 8,000 into a pot of 14,000 and Quan Zhou raised it up to 30,000. Haxton was surprised and glanced over to his opponent. Zhou then said "Six, Six."

"You have sixes? How many?" Haxton asked and Maksim Shuts as well as Joseph Kushner laughed. After more than a minute, Haxton then said "I believe you, that's why I call."

Zhou turned over his cards one by one. First the {6-Clubs}, followed by the {6-Spades}. Then, the {8-Spades} followed suit and the last card was the {4-Clubs} for a straight. Zhou smiled big time and leaned over to Haxton, then both shook hands.

Shuts Gets Shut Down

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 0 ante

Hand 1

On the {6-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{2-Hearts} flop, Joseph Kushner checked in the cutoff and Maksim Shuts bet 2,200 on the button into a pot of 5,200. Kushner check-raised to 11,800 and Shuts called. The {3-Diamonds} on the turn saw Kushner lead for 20,000, which represented most of Shuts' remaining stack, and the Belorussian folded.

Hand 2

Shuts raised to 2,500 and Isaac Haxton three-bet to 5,300, Shuts called. The flop came {J-Spades}{9-Hearts}{7-Clubs} and a pot-sized bet by Haxton did the trick to force a fold from Shuts.

Lee Busts to Lau

Level 7 : 400/800, 0 ante
Hok Lee
Hok Lee

There are plenty of hands in Omaha that play itself, especially when the stack has been reduced already. On a flop of {9-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} one such scenario took place with Hok Lee and Ka Kwan Lau getting their stacks in, the former was the one at risk and needed to hold up in order to avoid elimination.

Hok Lee: {K-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}
Ka Kwan Lau: {10-Clubs}{7-Spades}{5-Spades}{5-Diamonds}

While Lee had flopped a straight, Lau had a ton of outs with the higher straight draw and bottom set. However, the {J-Hearts} turn improved Lau and the {A-Diamonds} river changed nothing whatsoever to eliminate Lee.

More for Weis

Level 7 : 400/800, 0 ante

Oliver Weis started very well and was among the early chip leaders before losing a big pot against Kazuhiko Yotsushika. The German then moved tables and doubled through Vladimir Troyanovskiy, and since then the trend is going up once again.

Weis defended the big blind against a raise by Edison Nguyen and then bet the {K-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{4-Clubs} turn for 4,400. Nguyen called and the {3-Hearts} river completed the board, providing a four-card straight. Weis now fired 6,000 and that proved to be too much for Nguyen, who sent his cards into the muck.

PokerStars Team Pro Felipe Ramos has lost more than half of his stack already on table one, but still has 30 big blinds left.

Collado Busts Zhao for Good

Level 7 : 400/800, 0 ante
Wei Zhao
Wei Zhao

Wei Zhao has become the first player to bust on two bullets and he may no longer buy back in, while Fabian Geisel and Jussi Nevanlinna are thriving. It was however Jan Collado, who dealt the final blow to Zhao.

It all went in after a raising war on a flop of {Q-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} and the cards were tabled with Zhao at risk,

Wei Zhao: {A-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}
Jan Collado: {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{4-Spades}

Collado was in the lead with top pair and a wrap, while Zhao was looking for diamonds. The {3-Spades} river gave Collado a straight, and the {J-Spades} river changed nothing whatsoever to eliminate Zhao.

Yang Takes from Troyanovskiy

Level 7 : 400/800, 0 ante
Shao Me Yang
Shao Me Yang

In the cutoff, Shao Me Yang raised to 1,700 and Vladimir Troyanovskiy three-bet to 6,000 on the button, which only Yang called. On the {10-Hearts}{9-Spades}{4-Diamonds} flop, both players checked and did so again on the {8-Clubs} turn. After the {2-Spades} river, Yang bet 6,000 and Troyanovskiy reluctantly called.

Yang turned over the {K-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{8-Hearts} for two pair and that won the pot.
