Davydov Stops Downfall

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

The last few levels were not as kind to early chip leader Denis Davydov and he just claimed a pot to stop the draining of his stack. Anton Shamrayevsky opened to 2,000 and Davydov defended the big blind. On a flop of {8-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{4-Spades}, Davydov checked and subsequently called a continuation bet worth 2,000 before the duo checked through the {6-Spades} turn.

Davydov bet the {J-Hearts} river for 6,000 with 16,100 behind and Shamrayevsky called, but soon after mucked after Davydov turned over {Q-Spades}{7-Spades} for a straight.

Clash Of the Team Pros; Moneymaker Vs Ramos

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

PokerStars Team Pro Chris Moneymaker opened for 1,800 and got a call from neigbor and fellow Team Pro Felipe Ramos. The rest of the table ducked for cover and left them to it.

With the pot heads-up Ramos couldn’t help but burst into a big grin now they were in a potentially big pot together.

The flop was {k-Spades}{2-Hearts}{j-Clubs} and Moneymaker continued for 1,700. Ramos joked that he had backdoor outs and it was too cheap to fold so in the chips went.

The turn was the {2-Spades} and both players checked. The river card was the {a-Diamonds} and Moneymaker bet a cheeky 2,000.

“I hope we’re chopping.” Ramos said and called. Indeed they were.

Rudoy Busts Pogodin to Take the Lead

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

Mikhail Rudoy opened to 1,900 from early position and was called by Vitaliy Li before the action reached Konstantin Podogin in the big blind. He raised to 5,100 and Rudoy four-bet to 11,200, forcing a fold from Li. Pogodin moved all in for what appeared to be 40,000 and was snap-called by Rudoy.

Konstantin Pogodin: {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}

After a board of {K-Hearts}{6-Spades}{6-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}, Pogodin was eliminated and Rudoy took the lead.

Dmitry Yurasov With a Miracle River

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

Dmitry Yurasov raised to 1,800 from under the gun. The player in middle position called, Mikhail Korotkikh called in the hijack and the player in the big blind called.

The flop came {6-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{3-Hearts} and all three players checked. The turn was the {9-Hearts}. It checked to Yurasov who bet 4,000 and Korotkikh was the only caller.

On the river, which was the {8-Diamonds} both players checked again and Korotkikh waved his hand at Yurasov who showed {j-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for a rivered pair of eights. Korotkikh muttered something in Russian and flashed {k-Clubs}{10-Clubs} before folding.

Banter; Bluffs and a Big Pot on Table 1

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante
Dmitry Yurasov Loses Big Pot in Last Level
Dmitry Yurasov Loses Big Pot in Last Level

Hand 1

On the flop of {7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}, Vadim Botosan bet 3,200 and was called by Natan Chauskin before the {6-Hearts} turn saw a bet of 7,000 by Botosan. Chauskin moved all in and Botosan reluctantly folded with 25,000 behind and mucked {K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} face up. Chauskin grinned and showed his {A-Spades}{J-Clubs}.

Hand 2

Plenty of table chat and banter in Russian followed after all was done and dusted. One hand later, Mikhail Korotkikh bet the {K-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{2-Clubs} flop for 5,100 and Ulrich Jungen as well as Dmitry Yurasov in the small blind folded. Korotkikh also showed a bluff, with {J-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}, and more jokes and laughs came after.

Hand 3

Ulrich Jungen raised to 2,100 and Yurasov three-bet to 6,300 in the small blind, which Jungen called. On the {J-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{7-Diamonds} flop, Yurasov bet 4,500 and Jungen moved all in. Yurasov asked for a count and eventually called the shove for 43,500.

Dmitry Yurasov: {Q-Spades}{J-Spades}
Ulrich Jungen: {K-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}

The {K-Hearts} turn improved the Swiss, and the {2-Hearts} river bricked off to deny Yurasov a potential chip leader pot.

Three-Bet Pot to Moneymaker

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante
Chris Moneymaker
Chris Moneymaker

Team PokerStars Pro Chris Moneymaker opened for 1,500 and faced a three-bet to 4,500 from Andrey Sakolishch on the button. Moneymaker called.

The flop was {4-Hearts}{2-Spades}{2-Diamonds} and Moneymaker check-called a bet of 5,000. The turn card was the {k-Hearts} and Moneymaker checked again.

Sakolishch asked to see how much Moneymaker was playing and he showed him that it was around 60,000. A bet of 10,000 from Sakolishch saw Moneymaker stick around.

The river was the {q-Spades} and both players checked.

Moneymaker tabled {k-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} for top two pair. Sakolishch shook his head and mucked.

Pisarenko Doubles; Korenev Busts

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

With around 25,000 in the middle and the turn showing {K-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{2-Spades}, Roman Kundasov moved all in and Maksim Pisarenko was having a decision for the remainder of his stack. Ultimately, Pisarenko called and the cards were turned over.

Maksim Pisarenko: {Q-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}
Roman Kundasov: {A-Spades}{5-Spades}

The {2-Clubs} river failed to improve Kundasov and he forfeited a big portion of his stack.

At almost the same time one table over, Roman Korenev got his short stack in with the {7-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} and was called by Vladimar Shashkov with {Q-Clubs}{Q-Spades}. Korenev spiked the {7-Spades} on the flop, but by the time the river came, there were four spades on the board and that was it for Korenev.

The river was the {7-Clubs} and Trenin bet the suitable amount of 7,700. Aubakirov called and Trenin shrugged, turning over {k-Hearts}{6-Hearts}. Aubakirov showed {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} and took down the pot.

Ramos Takes A Hit

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

The board at the river was {5-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{8-Spades}{3-Clubs}{4-Hearts} and Team PokerStars Pro Felipe Ramos check it from the big blind to Maxim Lykov who bet 12,000.

Ramos didn’t look happy and stared off into space lost in thought for a few moments before calling.

Lykov showed {q-Spades}{8-Hearts} for trips and Ramos was left shaking his head as he was left below his starting stack for seemingly the first time today as the final level draws to a close.
