Zaplava Rivers a Straight

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

The board read {10-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} and Sascha Niese was already all in and it looked like he could win 8,200 in total. There was a side-pot of around 500. Michael Langwald (big blind) checked, Vladimir Zaplava (early position) bet 3,700. Stefan Wolfschutz (mid-position) called. Claudio Celenza (cutoff) and Langwald folded.

The turn brought them the {2-Clubs}, now Zaplava bet 8,700 and Wolfschutz folded. The side pot was awarded to Zaplava. They now only needed to see the river before they would know Niese's fate.

Niese showed {10-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} so he had flopped a pair of tens. Zaplava tabled {K-Clubs}{Q-Clubs} for a straight draw. The river completed the board with the {A-Clubs} so he did hit his straight to eliminate Niese from the tournament.

"I knew that!" Zaplava said about the ace coming on the river. The rest of the table laughed.
