Two Seat Open on Table 9

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Christopher Morrison was eliminated and the very next hand, Seung Soo Jeon was also sent to the rail. Jeon had a coin flip for around 50,000 with the {4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} and Mike Takayama looked him up with two over cards in {K-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}.

The {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} flop and {A-Clubs} turn were safe for Jeon, but the {10-Diamonds} river improved Takayama to tens and nines.

Lee Still in Contention

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Celine Lee was down to just two and a half big blinds on the money bubble and has since doubled not once but twice. In the latest hand she held up with {K-Spades}{K-Clubs} versus {A-Clubs}{Q-Hearts} on a board of {9-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{K-Hearts}{A-Spades}.

Day 1c big stack Kai Loon Ang was less fortunate and became the latest casualty to reduce the field to the last 73 hopefuls.

Nikawadori and Yen Eliminated

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

A short-stacked Masato Nikawadori got his stack in with {5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} and had a coin flip against the {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} of Antti Halme. The board came {K-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{7-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} and the Japanese player joined the rail.

He was soon joined there by Yau Shern Yen, who put his hopes and the last 56,000 on {K-Clubs}{J-Hearts}. Sejin Park looked him up with {A-Hearts}{J-Clubs} and the board ran out {9-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{10-Clubs}{2-Clubs} to let the kicker play.

Post Bubble Eliminations

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

There were plenty of eliminations right after the money bubble had burst and among them was also Yan da Tyronne Soh. He lost all but 4,000 chips in a battle of the blinds with Sejin Park with ace-jack versus {A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds} when the board ran out {A-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{2-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}. Right after, Kenneth Buck had {Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs} and Soh was forced all in with {8-Diamonds}{3-Spades} to find no help.

Verma Becomes Bubble Boy

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Vikram Verma
Vikram Verma

Action folded around to Sam Razavi in the small blind and he moved all-in and big blind Vikram Verma made the call for his tournament life for his last 74,000 in chips.

“I only have six-high’ Razavi told Verma while they waited ‘so you’re definitely in front.”

However, both players had to wait for an agonizing five minutes while a hand played out on one of the other tables. Eventually, it was time to decide Verma’s fate and the hands were turned over, with Razavi wishing Verma good luck.

Sam Razavi: {6-Hearts}{4-Clubs}
Vikram Verma: {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}

Both players were on their feet and a sizable rail gathered around to see Verma’s fate, with the Indian player’s tournament life hanging in the balance.

Unfortunately for Verma the {7-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} flop saw Razavi pair his six and take the lead, meaning the Indian player was two cards away from leaving empty-handed. Razavi was calling for the {k-Clubs} and while paint hit the turn, it was the {q-Hearts} and Verma was one step closer to an unceremonious exit.

The {10-Diamonds} river completed the hand and brought Verma’s tournament to a close, to wild celebrations from the rest of the field. Razavi got up to shake his opponent’s hand and Verma headed for the exit while the Brit stacked up to 480,000.

Every remaining player is now guaranteed a PHP90,000 (~$1,787) payday and there are 87 players left in the running.

The board showed {Q-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} and Loo quadrupled up with ace-king high only.
