Park Busts Tran

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Linh Tran
Linh Tran

Kenneth Buck was kind enough to call our attention to a huge hand that played out between Linh Tran and Sejin Park that saw the latter bring the former’s tournament to a close.

According to Buck Park and Tran became involved in a progressive betting war with the board running out {j-}{j-}{7-}{7-}{q-} and all the chips going in on the river. Unfortunately for Tran, Park was holding a jack the the Vietnamese-Canadian departed in 55th place for a PHP112,000 (~$2,225) payday.

Setback for Peters

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

In a battle of the blinds, a raising war broke out between Andre Peters and Duc Nguyen. The former ended up as the player at risk for his last 190,000 and Peters had him easily covered.

Duc Nguyen: {A-Clubs}{J-Spades}
Andre Peters: {Q-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}

The board came {K-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{3-Spades}{2-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} and Nguyen back-doored a straight to double up.

Two More Down the Drain

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Aki Virtanen
Aki Virtanen

In quick succession, Mike Takayama busted another opponent. Tran Hung Manh open-shoved for 100,000 with ace-seven and Takayama just flat-called on the button with {K-Clubs}{K-Spades}. The board ran out queen-high and that was it for Manh as well.

Soon after, Aki Virtanen got into a battle with table neighbor Sejin Park and put his hopes on an open-ended straight draw on the {J-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{3-Spades} flop. Virtanen was at risk for 134,000 with {Q-Clubs}{10-Spades} and Park had him covered by far, turned over {K-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} for top pair and blocked one of Virtanen's outs.

The {7-Hearts} on the turn and the {J-Spades} on the river failed to improve Virtanen and he became the next casualty.

Gall Busts Duang, Katsushima Cracks Patni’s Aces

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Kunal Patni
Kunal Patni

Down to his last 69,000 in chips Vietnam’s Thanh Ha Duong moved all-in from early position and the action folded around to Raphael Gall in the big blind, who asked for a count and then plonked out the call.

Thanh Ha Duong: {a-Spades}{6-Spades}
Raphael Gall: {7-Spades}{7-Diamonds}

“It’s my turn to hit,” said Duang, standing up as his fate was decided. The {k-Spades}{a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds} flop appeared to be the perfect one for Duang, but unfortunately the {7-Hearts} hit the turn to give Gall a full house and the lead in the hand. The {j-Spades} river saw Gall stack up to 500,000 while Duang headed for the exit.

Another man who is no longer in the running is Kunal Patni who took a brutal beat at the hands of Shinji Katsushima, who opened the action from early position and Kunal Patni re-raised from middle position with the Japanese player making the call and taking the action heads-up to a flop of {7-Spades}{2-Spades}{4-Clubs}.

Katsushima check-called Patni’s flop continuation bet and all the chips ended up in the middle on the {9-Hearts} turn.

Kunal Patni: {a-}{a-}
Shinji Katsushima: {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}

Unfortunately for Patni his aces had just been out-turned by Katsushima’s set of nines and the {j-Diamonds} river saw the Indian player drop down to 20,000 while Katsushima stacked up to 425,000. Patni was unable to recover from that rather brutal setback and departed shortly afterward.

Siddarth Singhvi

Among the next players to fall was also Jongjun Park.

Siddarth Singhvi raised to 16,000 and picked up two callers in Tien Than Nguyen and Jaehyun Lim. Park moved all in after Lim out of the big blind and Singhvi reshoved to force out the other duo.

Jongjun Park: {K-Hearts}{9-Spades}
Siddarth Singhvi: {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades}

The board ran out {5-Spades}{4-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{A-Spades}{9-Clubs} and Park failed to improve.

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Ddingxiang Ong got his stack in with {A-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} and failed to get there against the {10-Spades}{10-Hearts} of Sam Razavi.

As for Ming Ken Thoo, he was at risk for 133,000 and Siddarth Singhvi had an almost even stack.

Ken Thoo: {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}
Siddarth Singhvi: {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}

The board came {Q-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{4-Spades}{9-Spades} and Thoo was covered by just 4,000 to also join the rail.

Post Bubble Spin Ups for Lee and White

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Celine Lee
Celine Lee

Celine Lee scored another double up soon after and Corbin White, who was equally short on the bubble with just 19,000, just managed to do so as well. In a raising war with Freddy Wei, he faced a raise and a four-bet to 65,000 before five-bet shoving. Wei asked for the amount and had to call another 70,000 on top. Wei obliged after some consideration and the cards were tabled.

Corbin White: {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}
Freddy Wei: {A-Hearts}{Q-Spades}

The board came {10-Hearts}{5-Spades}{4-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} and White doubled to an average stack.

Oh Wins One, Zak Wins Another

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Following a slew of speedy eliminations there has been a period of relative calm. We caught a short-stacked Junghwan Oh limping in from under-the-gun with Chi Thinh Nguyen, Min Soon Lim and both blinds called to take the action five-way to a flop of {6-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{5-Spades}.

With so many players in the hand the action was checked all round and the {4-Spades} came in on the turn. This saw both blinds check once more and Oh lead for 11,000 with Nguyen and Lim the only two customers.

The {9-Diamonds} river saw Oh fire again, this time for 25,000 and that was enough to take down the hand and the Korean climbed back up to 140,000.

We caught Elan Zak involved in a three-way hand immediately afterward, picking up the action on a flop of {3-Clubs}{7-Spades}{9-Hearts} just as Michael Brunner (small blind) checked the action over to Zak (under-the-gun).

Zak fired out a bet of 26,000 with Jae Wook Shin making the call in the h-jack and Brunner calling also. Brunner checked the {5-Hearts} turn over to Zak, who bet 46,000 and that was enough to take down the hand.
