Buck Busts Lee

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Play had not long resumed after the break and Celine Lee moved all-in for a little over 100,000 from under-the-gun and Australia’s Kenneth Buck made the call from the button for a little more than Lee.

Celine Lee: {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts}
Kenneth Buck: {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}

The field’s sole remaining female player was in bad shape with a dominated hand and did not improve when the board ran out {9-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} to hit the rail in 45th for a PHP112,000 payday. Buck stacked up to 280,000.

White Doubles; Grocott Doesn't

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Corbin White pushed for nine big blinds from under the gun and Yo Seb Rhee looked him up from one seat over.

Corbin White: {A-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}
Yo Seb Rhee: {J-Hearts}{J-Clubs}

The {5-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{3-Clubs} flop gave White trips, and he stayed in the lead after the {7-Hearts} turn and {K-Hearts} river.

Alexander Grocott was less fortunate. His shove with {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs} was called by Mike Takayama with {5-Hearts}{5-Clubs} and the {J-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{4-Spades} flop left the Aussie in desperate shape. It was all over fter the {6-Hearts} turn, making the {9-Diamonds} river a formality.

Roller Coaster Run Out Lets Lee Double

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Soon after coming back from dinner, Thomas Lee open-shoved for his last 14 big blinds out of the small blind and Zhe Li in the big blind reluctantly called.

Thomas Lee: {J-Clubs}{3-Spades}
Zhe Li: {A-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}

The {Q-Hearts}{7-Spades}{3-Clubs} flop improved Lee, while Li regained the lead with the {5-Diamonds} turn. After the {J-Diamonds} river, Lee improved to two pair and doubled.

2017 APOY Leader Cheung Eliminated; Yang Cut Short

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Sparrow Cheung
Sparrow Cheung

The hole cards were all but rushed away when Sparrow Cheung was spotted leaving the table. He shoved with {A-Spades}{2-Clubs} and Andre Peters, who had previously seen Cheung doubled through him, called with {A-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} and the board of {K-Hearts}{K-Spades}{8-Spades}{5-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} ensured that the kicker would play.

Start-of-the-day chip leader Woohyuk Yang suffered a massive setback and has a mere 100,000 left after a big clash with Mark Amparo. Yang check-raised all in after the turn of a board {Q-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{2-Clubs} and Amparo, who had bet 100,000, called it off for 268,000 in total.

Mark Amparo: {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts}
Woohyuk Yang: {K-Clubs}{J-Clubs}

The open-ended straight draw and flush draw of Yang was no good, as a blank {4-Diamonds} river completed the board to award a big double to Amparo.

Another Four Players Eliminated

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Kok Hou Toh lost a flip with {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} against the pocket jacks of Junhwan Oh before Toshifumi Hashimoto and Jiunn Ng followed to the rail. James Chong was also among those to run out of chips entirely and it was Antti Halme who knocked him out.

Tien Than Nguyen raised to 24,000 and Chong shoved for 65,000 on the button. Halme four-bet to 121,000 out of the big blind and that forced out Nguyen.

James Chong: {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}
Antti Halme: {A-Spades}{J-Spades}

The {9-Spades}{5-Spades}{2-Hearts} flop game Halme a flush draw, while Chong himself also had a flush draw on the {7-Hearts} turn. However, it was not meant to be, as the {6-Spades} river improved Halme to a flush, eliminating Chong as a result.

Oh Jacks it Up and Busts Spets

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

The carnage continues in the PokerStars Festival Manila Main Event with a sizable pot playing out in a three-way hand that saw Sweden’s Roger Spets depart and Victor Chong take a big hit at the hands of Junghwan Oh.

Pre-flop it was Min Soon Lim who lit the fuse with an early position raise to 19,000 with Chong making the call from the next seat over before Spets, sitting on the button, moved all-in for his last 49,000.

Oh flat called from the small blind leaving himself 116,000 behind, the big blind folded and the action was back on Lim, who looked torn between calling and folding, eventually choosing the latter. Chong made the call and the action when three-handed to a flop of {q-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}.

First to act, Oh moved all-in and Chong called immediately.

“Well I’m dead…” muttered Spets as the cards were turned over.

Junghwan Oh: {j-Spades}{j-Diamonds}
Victor Chong: {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}
Roger Spets: {a-Spades}{8-Hearts}

Spets was wrong about drawing dead, but the Swedish player was drawing pretty thin with Oh holding the lead with middle set, which was ahead of Chong’s top pair, top kicker.

The turn and river brought no help for Spets or Chong and although the Swede paired his eight it was not enough to keep him alive. Spets headed for rail, Chong dropped down to 110,000 and Oh stacked up to 420,000.

Run Like Razavi

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Sam Razavi
Sam Razavi

While Sam Razavi made it to Day 2 with just over 50,000 in chips, he is certainly well known to run particularly well when it matters and the Brit jumped up the leader board throughout the day. Just now, he called the shove of James Mendoza and wished his opponent good luck just before the flop fell and improved Razavi's hand.

James Mendoza: {6-Clubs}{6-Hearts}
Sam Razavi: {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades}

The board ultimately came {K-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} and that was it for Mendoza. Right after, Richard Marquez followed to reduce the field further.

Shultz Doubles Through Cheung; Peters Can't Bust Cheung

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Sparrow Cheung raised to 20,000 and Jeffrey Shultz three-bet all in out of the big blind. Cheung asked for a count and the shove was for 165,000 in total, which Cheung called after his fidget spinner told him to do so. On a more serious note, Cheung has been using his three lucky charms and the complimentary fidget spinner for all major decisions and took one minute before calling.

Jeffrey Shultz: {A-Spades}{K-Hearts}
Sparrow Cheung: {J-Spades}{J-Clubs}

The board came {7-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{5-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} and Shultz got there on the river.

Right after, Cheung was all in for 10 big blinds with {Q-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} and Andre Peters called with the {A-Clubs}{6-Clubs}. The board came {Q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{4-Spades} and Cheung doubled.
