Rhee Upping the Action

Level 7 : 300/600, 75 ante

Yo Seb Rhee has edged back into the chip lead, taking down to back-to-back pots without showdown.

In the first, it was Simon Burns who opened the action to 1,500 from the button and Rhee re-raised to 4,000 from the small blind and Burns quickly folded.

It was Rhee’s turn to play the button the next hand, and he made it 1,300 to go with Peter Plater making the call from the big blind to take play heads-up to a flop of {6-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{q-Spades}.

Plater checked, Rhee continuation bet 1,600 and that was enough to get it done and make it two from two for the Korean.

Sorokin Left Short

Level 7 : 300/600, 75 ante

With 13,000 already in the middle and the flop showing {K-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}, Sathesh Kumar Muthu bet 7,500 from the small blind and Maxim Sorokin called on the button. The {5-Diamonds} appeared on the turn and Muthu made it 9,350 to go, leaving himself with just one T-25,000 chip behind.

Sorokin called that bet and the {K-Clubs} river paired the board. Muthu checked, as did Sorokin, and the former rolled over {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts} for aces and kings to win the pot and leave Sorokin short.

Muthu and Okada Re-enter, Sorokin Folds Out Do, Obara Folds Out Nguyen

Level 7 : 300/600, 75 ante

The field has now grown to 26 with the re-entries of Ken Okada and Sathesh Muthu, the latter of whom arrived at his table just in time to see Maxim Sorokin and Hoang Long Do battle it out in a hand.

Do made it 1,500 to go from the hi-jack, Maxim Sorokin re-raised to 5,500 from the big blind and Do made the call to bring in the {8-Hearts}{q-Spades}{q-Diamonds} flop.

Sorokin continuation bet 5,500 and while Do thought long and hard about it he eventually let it go leaving Sorokin free to rake in the pot.

Over on table two Bach Hoang Nguyen made it 1,500 to go from the button and big blind Jun Obara re-raised to 4,500 in total. Nguyen thought for 20 seconds and made the call to take play heads-up to a flop of {3-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{j-Spades}.

Obara continuation bet 3,000 and Nguyen made the call once more to bring in the {q-Spades} turn. This brought another bet from Obara, this one a sizable 8,500, which was enough to get Nguyen to give it up.

Double Check-Raise Does the Trick for Georgiou

Level 7 : 300/600, 75 ante

Jun Obara's raise was called by Georges Georgiou in the big blind and the Brit checked the {J-Hearts}{J-Spades}{4-Spades} flop to see Obara continue for 1,200. Georgiou check-raised to 3,600 and Obara called before the action once more checked to him on the {K-Spades} turn.

Obara bet 5,000 and Georgiou quickly check-raised to 10,000. This sent Obara into the think tank and he used one of his two remaining time bank chips before sending his cards into the muck.

Expensive Hands for Sorokin and Loo

Level 7 : 300/600, 75 ante

With 18,000 in the middle and three players in action, the board showed {Q-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{4-Diamonds} and Van Sang Nguyen bet 11,000 on the button. Hoang Long Do folded in the small blind and Maxim Sorokin called in the cutoff.

The {6-Diamonds} on the river saw a check by Sorokin and Nguyen moved all in for 40,625. Sorokin had less than that behind and used one time-bank chip before folding when his second set of 30 seconds had run down to zero.

At the same time over on table two, Junzhong Loo was left with dust after having paid off a bet of 20,000 by Hoa Thinh Nguyen on the {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{3-Spades} river. Nguyen tabled {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} for top two pair and Loo sent his cards into the muck.

Rhee Leads Going into Second Break

Level 6 : 250/500, 50 ante

There have been two recent eliminations with Sathesh Muthu unable to recover from his horrible start and the Singaporean player departed at the hands of Russia’s Timofey Asmolov shortly before the break. Muthu was followed to the rail not long afterward by Ken Okada, with Monsour Matloubi doing the honours there.

Here’s how the rest of the field is stacking up:

Nguyen Takes it on the Turn

Level 6 : 250/500, 50 ante

Hoa Thinh Nguyen raised to 1,300 from the button and Junzhong Loo in the small blind, as well as Wai Kiat Lee in the big blind, called. On the {Q-Hearts}{5-Spades}{2-Diamonds} flop, the trio checked and the {2-Hearts} appeared on the turn. Loo checked, Lee bet 2,700 and Nguyen raised to 7,000 in order to force folds from both opponents.

Two Jams and No Call

Level 6 : 250/500, 50 ante

With around 20,000 in the middle, Junzhong Loo shoved the river of a board {7-Spades}{6-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{A-Hearts} and Bach Hoang Nguyen jumped out of his seat with a "why?" on his lips. Nguyen folded and Loo raked in the pot without saying a word.

One table over, Timofey Asmolov's bet of 7,200 in the cutoff was called only by Yo Seb Rhee in the small blind on the {A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{6-Clubs} turn. Rhee checked the {3-Spades} river and Asmolov moved all in. Rhee asked for a count on the shove, which amounted to 24,100, and that forced a fold. Asmolov flashed {K-Spades}{3-Clubs} for a pair of threes only.
