There was an open to 2,500 and a call from Yury Gulyy before the small blind called and action was on Dmitriy Ponomarev in the big blind.

Gulyy called over to Ponomarev and seemed to be encouraging him to make the call. Ponomarev did call and four player saw a flop of {k-Spades}{6-Clubs}{9-Hearts}.

The action was checked to Gulyy who bet 3,500 which got a fold from the small blind and a long hard stare from Ponomarev.

Gulyy again addressed Ponomarev before breaking out on a laugh which got a grin in return. It also got a check-raise to 12,500 from Ponomarev.

The original raiser folded and Gully let out a deep sigh, which got Ponomarev sighing in imitation.

Gulyy asked for a count of Ponomarev stack and found it was 20,000. A quick count of his own stack and Gulyy set him in and got a call.

Ponomarev: {k-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}
Gulyy: {k-Clubs}{j-Hearts}

The turn was the {4-Diamonds} and the river the {6-Hearts}.

“Full house,” Ponomarev said.

Fun Is Over Sergey Malyavko

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Sergey Malyavko has been eliminated which is a real shame as he had the biggest grin of anyone in the tournament today and had his table laughing along with him several times too.

Malyavko had a few coffees, a drink or two, a massage at the table and played a good number of hands.

Malyavko may have been unable to bag a stack today but he can fire again tomorrow with Day 1b starting at 12 p.m. and the final chance Day 1c at 9:30 p.m.

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Three players saw a flop of {9-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{q-Spades} spread across the felt and the player in the big blind checked. Oleg Polyakov moved all in for 15,600 into a pot of around 10,000. Vladimir Volov was int he next position and called, leading the big blind to quickly muck his cards.

Oleg Polyakov: {a-Spades}{q-Clubs}
Vladimir Volov: {3-Clubs}{5-Clubs}

Volov held a flush draw, but Polyakov stood firm with top pair. The turn was the {q-Diamonds} improving Polyakov to trips and the river {5-Spades} gave Volov a pair of his own, but it wasn't enough as Polyakov doubled up.
