Jouhkimainen Making all the Right Calls

Level 12 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Joni Petteri Jouhkimainen
Joni Petteri Jouhkimainen

Just moments earlier, according to Espen Jorstad, the reigning WSOP Main Event champion got all of his chips in the middle holding pocket jacks and was called by pocket queens. Joni Jouhkimainen, also at the table, predicted that a jack was coming because those are his initials. Indeed a jack came on the flop and Jorstad doubled up to stay alive.

Now the action had folded to Fabiano Kovalski in the small blind who limped in and Jouhkimainen checked his option. The flop came {q-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{9-Diamonds} and both players checked to the {3-Diamonds} on the turn.

Kovalski tossed in a bet of 7,000 and Jouhkimaninen called to see the {a-Spades} on the river. Kovalski flicked in another bet of 14,000 and Jouhkimainen quickly called. Kovalski tabled {10-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} for nothing while Jouhkimainen held {q-Clubs}{4-Hearts} for two pair.

Moneymaker, Smith and Hughes Chip Up

Level 12 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Christopher Moneymaker
Christopher Moneymaker

Bea Caneda raised to 6,000 and was called by Diego Ventura, Chris Moneymaker also called in the big blind as well. The {k-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} flop was checked to Caneda and she bet 6,000. Ventura folded and Moneymaker check-raised to 18,000 for Caneda to fold.

One table over, Dinesh Alt opened to 6,000 and Mason Hughes called on the button. Dan Smith jammed in the small blind for 100,500 and earned two folds. "It played itself," Smith mentioned and flashed his {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}.

One hand later, Alt raised to 6,000 again and Hughes now three-bet to 18,000 with three green T-25,000 chips behind. The call by Alt led them to the {q-Spades}{8-Spades}{2-Spades} flop on which the Swiss checked. Hughes moved all-in and that won the pot uncontested.

Adams Gets Four-Bet; Lococo Leads Flop

Level 12 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Carlos Gurdiel Robles opened to 7,000 from the cutoff and Timothy Adams three-bet to 27,000 from the small blind. Undeterred, the Platinum Pass winner four-bet to 70,000 and Adams gave it some thought before folding.

A few tables over, Marc Radgen opened to 6,000 from the cutoff and Zsolt Vass and PokerStars Ambassador Alejandro Lococo called from the blinds.

Vass checked on the {3-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{8-Spades} flop and Lococo led into the preflop aggressor with a bet of 10,500. Radgen responded by jamming a stack of around 52,000 and Vass and Lococo quickly folded.

Level 12 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Byron Kaverman
Byron Kaverman

Kitty Kuo opened to 6,500 in early position and Byron Kaverman called from the big blind. The flop fell {7-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} and Kaverman check-called a bet of 9,000 from Kuo.

The turn brought the {k-Spades} and Kaverman checked again. Kuo sized up a bet of 20,000 and Kaverman still called. The {8-Clubs} completed the board and Kaverman still checked. Kuo ripped all in, putting her opponent to the test for his remaining stack of 39,500.

Kaverman took his time in the tank for a couple of minutes before finally calling. Kuo flipped over {10-Hearts}{9-Hearts} for just ten-high while Kaverman tabled {a-Hearts}{j-Clubs} for ace-high which got a reaction from the rest of the table.

Elias Gutierrez

Reddy Patur: {6-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}
Elias Gutierrez: {k-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

Patur’s pocket pair remained in front on the {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} flop and {8-Diamonds} turn, but Gutierrez spiked the {10-Spades} river to score the elimination.

Stamm Runs Into Gong's Aces

Level 12 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Jiachen Gong raised it up to 6,500 from under the gun and Alexander Farahi three-bet to 20,000. Out of the big blind, David Stamm pushed all-in for 107,000 and Gong then reshoved for slightly more.

Farahi sighed immediately and asked for a count on Gong's shove, which was for 116,000 total. The fold followed and the cards were turned over.

David Stamm: {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades}
Jiachen Gong: {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}

"That's not good ..." Stamm exclaimed in the table chat and then asked for a ten after the {9-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} flop. His request was denied on the {8-Hearts} turn before the {10-Hearts} then appeared on the river.

"There is the ten, a little too late, though," he joked and left the table shortly after.

Bujtas Wins Huge Pot With Aces

Level 12 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Laszlo Bujtas
Laszlo Bujtas

Dimitrios Barmpathanasis raised to 6,000 from middle position and was called by Adrian Chabbi in the hijack before Laszlo Bujtas three-bet to 22,000 from the cutoff.

Action folded back to Barmpathanasis who four-bet to 66,000. Chabbi moved all in covering both players and Bujtas called off for 156,600. Barmpathanasis open folded {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}.

Laszlo Bujtas: {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}
Adrian Chabbi: {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}

It was a cooler as Chabbi's ace-king had run into Bujtas's pocket rockets. The board ran out {7-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{2-Spades}{a-Spades}{j-Clubs} to give Bujtas more than a double up.

Gruissem Goes Fishing for Lococo; Lands Wakil

Level 12 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Philipp Gruissem
Philipp Gruissem

Alejandro Lococo opened under the gun for 6,000 and then Ameer Wakil moved all in behind for 22,800 and action folded to Philipp Gruissem in the cutoff, who just called.

"Are you trying to trap me?" Lococo asked him when the action got back around to him.

"I cannot say anything right now, if it was heads up then I would talk," Gruissem replied.

After a few more moments, Lococo tossed his cards into the middle and the other two hands were tabled, with Wakil at risk.

Ameer Wakil: {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}
Phillipp Gruissem: {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}

Gruissem was the favorite going into this classic flip, and the runout of {7-Spades}{9-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{2-Clubs} was clean for him and he scooped the pot, eliminating Wakil.

"Yes of course I was fishing for you!" Gruissem laughed and waved his finger at Lococo, who just smiled and shook his head.
