Betbese's Aces Bring Value

Level 12 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Nicolás Betbesé
Nicolás Betbesé

Blaz Zerjav raised to 6,500 with {q-Spades}{j-Spades} from early position and Cassio Pisapia De Almeida responded by moving all-in for his final 23,000 chips with {k-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}. Nicolas Betbese called on the button with {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds} before Zerjav also tossed in the call. That left De Almeida at risk against two opponents.

The {q-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{4-Spades} flop saw Zerjav and Betbese check to the {9-Spades}, where Zerjav led out for 17,000. Betbese called to the {9-Diamonds} river before firing 21,000 when Zerjav checked.

Zerjav called, only to see Betbese’s aces and nines to take down both pots and eliminate De Almeida.

Sammartino Plays a Long and Monster Pot

Level 12 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Brian Kim raised it up from the hijack and was called by Adam Neal in the cutoff. Dario Sammartino three-bet to 28,000 on the button and only Neal called to see a flop of {k-Spades}{9-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}.

Neal checked to Sammartino who continued with a bet of 25,000 and Neal called. The turn brought the {7-Hearts} and Neal checked again. Sammartino tossed in a bet of 45,000 and Neal still called.

The river was the {8-Diamonds} and Neal checked for the third time. Sammartino pushed all in for 92,500 which put Neal into the tank. With cameras gathering around the table to capture the action, Neal spent around five minutes in the tank before finally mucking his cards.

Chamas and Holz Battle

Level 12 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Fedor Holz raised to 6,000 from middle position and was called by Rayan Chamas in the big blind. The flop came {9-Spades}{7-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} and action checked through. The {5-Hearts} was the turn and Chamas fired 16,500. Holz called. The river was the {j-Diamonds} and Chamas bet 49,500, to which Holz folded.

The very next hand Holz made it 6,000 from early position and Chamas three-bet to 22,500 from the small blind. Holz called. The flop came {k-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} and Chamas continued for 13,000. Holz called. Action went check-check on the {6-Clubs} turn. The river was the {a-Clubs} and Chamas checked. Holz paused before betting 77,000. Chamas quickly called. Holz showed {7-Hearts}{7-Spades} while Chamas tabled {a-Hearts}{k-Spades} for top two pair to take down the pot.

Adams Forces Out McIlroy

Level 12 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Timothy Adams
Timothy Adams

Joining the action on a heads-up turn of {j-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{k-Spades}, Timothy Adams opted to check over to Adam McIlroy and then faced a bet of 6,000. Adams subsequently check-raised to 18,000 and McIlroy eventually called after brief consideration.

The {7-Spades} on the river completed a back door flush and Adams made it 20,000 to go, which forced a fold from McIlroy.

Eyster Bad Beats Martirosian in Preflop Clash

Level 12 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Kevin Eyster
Kevin Eyster

Artur Martirosian opened the action with a button raise to 7,000. From one seat over, Kevin Eyster pushed all-in and it folded back to Martirosian, who instantly asked for a count.

While the 65,000 of Eyster was counted, Martirosian already had calling chips in the hand and splashed them in as soon as the amount was officially confirmed.

Kevin Eyster: {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}
Artur Martirosian: {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}

Eyster was behind but that changed on the {10-Spades}{6-Hearts}{2-Spades} flop on which he improved to a pair of tens. Nothing changed on the {7-Diamonds} turn and {4-Spades} river, leaving Martirosian on fumes.

Smith Needs a New Strategy

Level 12 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Daniel Steven Smith
Daniel Steven Smith

Dan Smith was out of position in a heads-up pot against Platinum Pass winner Diego Cuellar on a flop of {4-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{5-Spades}.

Smith, who tweeted earlier in the event that his poker strategy is to "generally just bet half pot and hope for the best," did precisely that as he bet 13,000 for a little more than half pot. Cuellar called.

Smith stuck to a similar strategy by betting 32,000 on the {k-Diamonds} turn before Cuellar again called. Smith opted to try something new on the {10-Hearts} river and checked before Cuellar checked back. Smith tabled {a-Spades}{j-Hearts} for ace-high, which was no good against the {8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} of the Platinum Pass winner.
