Straight Good For Belanger

Level 16 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Rory Belanger limped from middle position before a player in late position raised to 16,000. The player in the cutoff called as did the big blind and Belanger to generate four-way action heading to the flop.

The big blind checked to Belanger on a flop of {6-Spades}{9-Hearts}{k-Hearts} and he led out for 15,000. Only the cutoff called.

The turn came {5-Hearts} prompting Belanger to fire off another bet, this time 20,000. The cutoff raised and with no hesitation Belanger announced all in. The cutoff player did not seem thrilled with the position but did end up making the call with the effective stack.

Cutoff Player: {10-Hearts}{10-Spades}
Rory Belanger: {8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}

Belanger was ahead with his straight but the at risk player could still find a heart to survive. The river bricked out {q-Diamonds} to keep Belanger ahead and send the cutoff player to the rail.

Kachittavong Felts Kraetz

Level 16 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Soukha Kachittavong
Soukha Kachittavong

Soukha Kachittavong opened to 20,000 from middle position and was called by James Kraetz out of the small blind.

Kraetz led out for 25,000 on a flop of {5-Clubs}{6-Spades}{5-Spades} only to see Kachittavong raise. That did not discourage Kraetz, who responded by moving all in. Kachittavong called just as quickly with the covering stack to put Kraetz at risk.

James Kraetz: {q-Spades}{8-Spades}
Soukha Kachittavong: {9-Diamonds}{9-Spades}

Kachittavong was ahead but would need to fade spades and queens to hold. The {5-Hearts} turn removed many of Kraetz's outs with the {k-Spades} river completing a safe runout for the nines.

Messick Survives

Level 15 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Action folded around to the small blind who raised to 14,000. Ryan Messick in the big blind responded by moving all in and was instantly called by his opponent with the covering stack.

Ryan Messick: {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}
Small Blind Player: {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}

It was a blind on blind cooler with Messick, for the time being, on the right end of things. That did not change as the board ran out {4-Clubs}{9-Spades}{5-Clubs}{6-Spades}{3-Diamonds} to hand Messick a crucial double.

Kraetz Escapes Trouble

Level 15 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Picking up the action partway through the hand, James Kraetz was all in and at risk from late position against the small blind.

James Kraetz: {j-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}
Small Blind Player: {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}

'I'm in trouble' said Kraetz as the hands were tabled. Although he was not wrong, the {5-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{6-Hearts} runout did see Kraetz come from behind to scoop the pot and survive.

Charron Builds Stack

Level 14 : Blinds 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

Alijah Charron opened to 14,000 from under the gun and action folded around to the short-stacked big blind player, who moved all in. Charron snapped it off to put his opponent at risk.

Big Blind Player: {a-Spades}{9-Spades}
Alijah Charron: {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}

Charron was ahead and in a good spot to score the elimination. The {3-Spades}{10-Spades}{10-Diamonds} flop did give the at risk player a flush draw but it did not come in on the {q-Hearts} turn or {j-Hearts} river to send the pot Charron's direction.

Perry Gets Lucky to Survive

Level 14 : Blinds 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

Jay Perry moved all in for his last 30,000 from middle position and action folded around to the big blind who snap-called with the larger stack.

Jay Perry: {k-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}
Big Blind Player: {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}

Perry was at risk and behind. The {q-Spades}{8-Hearts}{3-Spades} flop did him no favours with the {4-Diamonds} turn leaving him needing to hit a three-outer to survive. Luck was on his side, however, as the {k-Diamonds} found its way onto the felt to keep Perry in the tournament.
