Severson Survives a Flip
Level 14
: Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Phil Guillen raised to 11,000 under the gun and John Schroer called in early position, as did Damon Muehl on the button. Robert Severson then moved all in for 60,000 in the big blind and Guillen folded, while Schroer reshoved to chase away Muehl.
Robert Severson: K♥J♥
John Schroer: 9♦9♠
Severson was racing for his tournament life, and he hit a pair on the Q♦J♠3♥ flop to take the lead. The J♣ turn improved him to trips, while the river was the 4♥ and Severson doubled up.
"You fold queens?" Bryan Engebretson asked Guillen.
"Ace-queen. I don't think I'm folding queens in that spot," Guillen replied.
