Rodney Spriggs
Rodney Spriggs

Rodney Spriggs busted another foe, this time when the player on the button put 8,150 in over a 3,000 bet from Spriggs on an {8-Spades}{7-Spades}{2-Diamonds} flop. Spriggs shoved all in, and his opponent tanked while Spriggs carried on an animated conversation with his neighbor, seemingly unconcerned about the pot.

"I already analyzed the hand for him," Spriggs said.

Finally, the player on the button called, and Spriggs rolled over {8-Hearts}{7-Hearts} for top two. His opponent showed {a-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}, needing an ace or running diamonds. The {4-Hearts} cut the latter out of his equity, and a {5-Clubs} river sent another sizable pot to Spriggs.

Spriggs Holds On With Top Pair

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante

We found big blind Rodney Spriggs calling the shove of a player in early position who had 8,325 on a board of {j-Spades}{10-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{8-Clubs}. The all-in player turned over his cards one on top of the other, with the {10-Hearts} exposed to the world.

"I'm guessing there's something bad under there?" Spriggs asked as he showed {q-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} for top pair and a combo draw.

"King," the all-in player said.

"Club?"

The player slid the {10-Hearts} sideways slightly, showing the {k-Clubs}. The {7-Diamonds} river didn't help him though, and he headed for the reentry desk.

Phahurat's Barrels Get Paid

Level 2 : 50/100, 0 ante

AP Phahurat bet 600 from the big blind on a flop of {a-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{4-Clubs} against a lone opponent in middle position, who raised to 1,600. Phahurat made it 4,000 to go, and his opponent called. On the {3-Clubs} turn, Phahurat bet 5,000 and was called once more. He fired 8,000 more on the {9-Spades} river, and his opponent tanked for a few minutes before tossing in a call.

Phahurat tabled {a-Spades}{a-Hearts} for top set, and he took the hefty pot.

At another table, Jeff Bryan busted his first bullet.

Martin Binks a Triple

Multiple players had 600 in front of them before the flop when we arrived at Dan "Wretchy" Martin's table. A player on the button had made it 2,200 to go and been cold-called by the big blind. Martin tossed his last 7,900 in, and the button moved in for 11,225 after everyone else folded. The big blind took a minute or two to think, but he called the shoves.

Martin: {9-Clubs}{9-Spades}
Big blind: {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs}
Button: {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}

The flop brought a straight draw for Martin as {8-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{5-Clubs} hit the felt, and an {a-Spades} helped nobody on the turn. Martin found a {9-Hearts} river for a set though, and he tripled up, while the player on the button won a small side pot to survive.

Elliott Busts One

Level 1 : 25/50, 0 ante

Greg Elliott bet 1,600 from the big blind on a board of {4-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{6-Spades}, and his opponent in middle position raised to 3,700. Elliott had shoved all in when we arrived to the table, and his opponent was in the tank. After a couple of minutes of thought, he tossed in a few chips.

"Big blind special," Elliott said, turning over {a-Spades}{6-Clubs} for a full house. It beat the {7-}{5-} held by the middle-position player, good for a straight.

"I knew you had the straight," Elliott said as he raked in the pot.
