Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante
Steve Pham
Steve Pham

In a pot with 8,000 already in preflop, Steve Pham checked from the small blind and a cutoff opponent checked back. Pham bet 2,500 on fourth with the board reading {7-Clubs}{10-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}, and his opponent called immediately. Pham bet 5,600 on the {3-Hearts}, and his opponent sighed an announced a call after about 15 seconds.

Pham tabled two aces and took the pot.

Dirksen Arrives

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante
Dustin Dirksen
Dustin Dirksen

Dustin Dirksen has made an appearance here at RunGood Poker Series Council Bluffs. He's been active early and had his starting stack ran up to 27,000 but recently took a small hit when a player shoved in early position for 3,075 and Dirksen called with {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts}. His opponent had {k-Hearts}{j-Clubs} and that player flopped a jack to double up.

Dirksen has more than $1.3 million in tournament cashes including a $400,000 score for sixth at the PCA in 2009. He also has nosebleed cash experience from the old online days, so he's certainly a player to watch.

Phan, Vashon Double Before Break

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante
Ryan Phan
Ryan Phan

Rod Vashon got his last 18,075 in with {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} from the button against the small blind's {j-}{j-}. Vashon flopped a set and turned kings full to end the hand quickly.

At another table, Ryan Phan shoved all in for 8,375 over a raise to 700 and two calls. Everyone folded. The next hand, he shoved from the small blind and doubled through a player who wouldn't lay down {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}. Phan held {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs} and hit aces full.

Players are on break.

Wolff Hits a Gutter

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

With the board reading {a-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{7-Spades}, the small blind bet 2,500 and Thaddeus Wolff raised to 5,800 under the gun. Elizabeth Hunter called in the cutoff, and the small blind shoved for about 20,000. Wolff shoved as well, and Hunter quickly mucked.

Wolff: {5-Hearts}{4-Hearts}
Small blind: {a-Hearts}{a-Spades}

"Are you kidding me?" the small blind. "A gutshot straight."

Indeed, the small blind needed to pair the board to survive but the river was a {5-Diamonds}.

At another table Trevis Devericks busted out.

Bybee Folds Winner in Big Pot

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante
Ross Bybee
Ross Bybee

We found Ross Bybee with 2,400 in front of him in early position on a flop of {3-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}. Elizabeth Hunter had moved all in for 17,800, and the big blind was all in also for 17,550.

"I'm just trying to figure out what you have," Bybee said after Hunter declared she was going to win. "Set or a straight? I know he has an overpair."

Finally, Bybee folded. Hunter showed {6-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} and the big blind had {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}, causing Bybee to lament letting {3-}{3-} go.

The board ran out {4-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} and Hunter scooped the pot.

"Nice bluff," Bybee said to Hunter.
