Powell Gets a Sweat against Sowers

Level 5 : 300/600, 600 ante

After an open from Steve Sowers and a few calls, short-stacked Clint Powell moved all in for his last 8,700.

Sowers made the call while the other two players quickly got out of the way and the cards were tabled

Clint Powell: 99
Steve Sowers: AJ

"Nice hand," Sowers said as a nine appeared in the window but did not yet see the cards behind it as it came 9AA. Powell had a made hand with his full house but it was a sweat as any ace, jack, or running pair would knock his down.

Luckily for him, the runout came 6K for his nines full to hold and he was awarded the double-up.

"Were you scared?" The dealer joked to Powell as he pushed him the pot, who laughed and nodded his head.

CHOP CHOP CHOP

Level 4 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante

After a preflop fireworks show, short stacks Josh Mok and Cary Koedyker were all in against Gabriel Habbaba who covered.

Josh Mok: A7
Cary Koedyker: Q3
Gabriel Habbaba: KK

Habbaba was in a great position to score a double knockout, but the cards had other plans as the board ran out 53674 to put a straight on the board for all three players to chop.

"Hey, I doubled up!" Mok joked as he increased his stack from 1,000 to 2,100 while Habbaba shook his head t the bizarre result.

Mok then managed to triple up the very next hand to 7,000 while Koedyker made his exit.

Thomas Dodges the Deck to Double; Hawkins and Meyers Enter

Level 3 : Blinds 200/400, 400 ante

After an open to 1,000 from Anthony Bland in middle position and a call from the button, David Thomas moved all in for 10,100.

After some conflicting emotions, Bland decided to make the call to put him at risk and the button got out of the way as the cards were tabled.

David Thomas: A3
Anthony Bland: K9

Thomas was ahead with his ace-high, but the flop of 867 gave Bland a ton of equity with his straight and flush combo draw. Miraculously, Thomas spiked the A on the turn to give him top pair and faded the K river to take down the pot for a double up, leaving Bland in disbelief.

Meanwhile, Kevin Meyers and WSOP Circuit champ Maurice Hawkins have both entered the tournament and are seated together.

Level 3 : Blinds 200/400, 400 ante

On a three-way flop of 5610, the early position player led out for 2,100 and was called by Samuel Weisman to his left, but then Louise Francoeur put the squeeze on them by raising it up to 7,100.

Both players then sighed and tossed in their cards to award her the pot.
