Miracle Turn for Hunter Sends Out Valdez

Level 17 : Blinds 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

Level 14: Blinds 3,000/6,000/6,000

On a heads-up flop of J83, Joshua Valdez checked to Jeffrey Hunter, who moved all in, covering Valdez.

Valdez paused for a few moments but made the call to put his tournament life at risk.

Joshua Valdez: QQAll in
Jeffrey Hunter: 1010

Hunter, along with the rest of the table, was quite surprised by the strength of CValdez's holding, but the deck was on Hunter's side as the turn immediately fell the 10 to give him the lead with a set of tens. The river was the blank 4 and the pot was shipped over to Hunter while Valdez shook his head and silently made his way to the exit.

"Wow, very lucky," Hunter said aloud, seemingly shocked himself at what just transpired.

Before the flop, Cuong Pham opened to 22,000 from the small blind and Joe Nguyen moved all in from the big blind, which Pham called to put him at risk.

Joe Nguyen: AKAll in
Cuong Pham: AK

The outcome was expected to be a chopped pot, but the deck had other plans as the runout came JQ94A to give Nguyen the running nut flush to take down the pot for the unlikely double.

On a flop of of A68, Sean Coyle was already all in when Joseph Bergh moved in for 41,000 and Marcus Mims called to put him at risk as well.

Sean Coyle: 9x9x[alin]
Joseph Bergh: 68All in
Marcus Mims: AJ

Bergh was in the lead with his flopped two pair, but Coyle picked up some outs with the turn 7 and Mims still had plenty of outs to hit. Fortunately for Bergh, the river was the brick 3 and he was awarded the pot for nearly a triple while Coyle was eliminated.

At another table, the board read 898K3 when Ratu Caucau moved all in to cover Stanley Hada, who made the call for his tournament life.

Hada tabled K10 for two-pair, but Caucau had him beat with A8 for trip eights and he was also eliminated.

Since both players were eliminated during the same hand, they were able to split the min-cash payout while the remaining players were sent into the money.
