Set-Over-Set Madness on the First Hand
On the first hand of the day, Sean Byars three-bet to 2,100 in the big blind and was called by a middle-position opponent and Reda Aziz in the hijack.
The flop came A♠6♥4♥ and Byars continued for 3,500. Only Aziz called to see the Q♣ turn.
Byars then bet 10,000 and Aziz moved all in. Byars snap-called and turned over A♥A♦ for top set, while Aziz had 4♠4♣ for a smaller set. The river was the 6♦ and Byars earned an immediate double up, leaving Aziz with just 200.
Aziz was all in the next hand and up against three opponents. Byars led out for 600 from the small blind on a flop of K♣9♣3♠, and only Lee Sommers called in the big blind.
Byars bet another 2,300 on the J♥ turn, and Sommers again called. The river was the 2♣ and Byars checked to Sommers, who bet 3,000. Byars folded and Sommers showed A♣4♣ for the nut flush. Aziz tossed his cards into the muck as he made his exit as the first casualty of the day.
