Higgins Falls to Garner

Level 3 : Blinds 200/400, 400 ante

There was a raise to 1,000 in early position and Matthew Higgins three-bet to 3,200 in middle position. Thurman Garner just called in the big blind which allowed the original raiser to come along as well. The flop came 942 and the action checked to Higgins who ripped all in for roughly 10,000. Garner called and the other player stepped aside.

Matthew Higgins: AKAll in
Thurman Garner: 1010

Garner turned up an overpair and but Higgins still had two overcards that were live. The 3 on the turn also gave him a straight draw but the J bricked out on the river to send Higgins to the rail.

Chris Moneymaker
Chris Moneymaker

As the field approaches a total of 100 entries in the early going on Day 1a, one of those belongs to the one and only Chris Moneymaker who has made his way to the Horseshoe Casino Tunica for this series.

Moneymaker had been spotted earlier in the week at some of the side events and now took his seat in the corner of the room for the Main Event. Off to a good start in the early going, Moneymaker will be looking to make a deep run to capture his first RGPS Main Event title.

Crawford Continues the "Run-good"

Level 2 : Blinds 200/300, 300 ante
Dylan Crawford
Dylan Crawford

While it is called the RunGood Poker Series, Dylan Crawford might be taking the "run-good" part literally over the past couple of days. Coming off his victory in the $250 Deepstack, Crawford has hopped into the Main Event and wasted no time getting in on the action.

After a couple of limps, Crawford raised it up 1,800 in the hijack and the button ripped all in for 11,100. The action folded back to Crawford who asked for a count before flicking in the chips to call.

Opponent: QQAll in
Dylan Crawford: AJ

The flop came J65 to give Crawford top pair but his opponent was still in the lead with pocket queens. The 3 on the turn changed nothing but it was the J on the river that gave Crawford trip jacks, the best hand, and the first knockout of the evening.

Hall Calls It Down

Level 2 : Blinds 200/300, 300 ante

Chad Hall raised it up from the cutoff and was called by the button and the big blind. The flop came J76 and Hall continued with a bet of 2,400, which both of his opponents called.

The turn brought the 5 and the action checked around to the Q on the river. It checked to the button again who threw in a bet of 4,300. The big blind folded but Hall looked him up. The button turned over 97 for just a pair of sevens after missing all of his draws. Hall tabled KJ for a pair of jacks and was awarded the pot.

Cooper Wastes No Time

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

Picking up the action on the turn with the board reading 642Q, the blinds were heads-up in a pot with around 8,000 in the middle. The small blind led out with a bet of 3,000 and Jonathan Cooper quickly called from the big blind.

The river was the 3 and the small blind flicked in another bet of 5,000. Cooper instantly raised to 15,000 which left his opponent with a head-scratching decision. He paused for a moment before flinging his cards into the muck and Cooper stacked the pot.
