Day 1bc Completed
Who's having a better series than Wesley Jones right now? Probably nobody, if you were to ask around. The Arkansas native has already won one ring at the 2025 RunGood Poker Series Grand Prix Tunica II in the PLO Event that wrapped up a couple of days ago. Fast forward to the $600 Main Event and Jones is on his way to another deep run after bagging the overall chip lead heading into Day 2.
Jones was a staple at all three starting flights this weekend, but finally found his groove in the two-card variant of poker on Day 1c. An above-average stack after late registration closed quickly turned into a monster stack on the money bubble. Then, during hand-for-hand play, Jones was able to claim the last elimination of the night to boost his stack into the top spot. Jones will return on Day 2 with a stack of 921,000 chips, good enough for around 150 big blinds when the cards go back in the air.
Other notable big stacks moving on to Day 2 include Josh Butler who bagged up an impressive 651,000 in the earlier flight Day 1b. Jason Maeroff joined him at the top of the leaderboard from that flight with 575,000 chips and Nicholas Rigby always brings some excitement to the game with a stack of 533,000 chips from the last of the starting flights.

The $200,000 guaranteed prize pool was reached with ease early on in the day. There were 242 entries recorded for Day 1b and 219 entries on Day 1c in the evening. That brought the total number of entries for this Main Event to 645, creating a prize pool of over $300,000 to play for on Sunday. There will be 80 players returning to the felt for Day 2, all guaranteed a piece of the pie. The confirmed numbers and payouts will be available at the start of the day tomorrow.
The cards are scheduled to go in the air at 12 p.m. local time on Sunday, with one minute remaining in level 14 at 3,000/6,000 and a 6,000 big blind ante. The levels will be increased to 40 minutes in length on Day 2, with a 15-minute break after every two levels. A dinner will be discussed among the staff and players when the time comes.
They will be playing down to a winner on Day 2, and the champion will be graced with a nice five-figure payday and a special RGPS Grand Prix ring. The PokerNews live reporting team will be on the floor to bring you all of the updates throughout the entire day so keep it locked here.

The action folded around to the small blind who ripped all in for his last 84,000 chips. Wesley Jones quickly called in the big blind and the two players discussed their hands while action was still pending at other tables.
"Oh God, no! Not like this! How does this happen? It's so sick," the player at risk went on and on in despair. The cards were finally tabled and it was Jones who had a firm grasp on the pot.
Small blind: 6♥6♣
Wesley Jones: 7♣7♦
Jones had one pair higher than his opponent and the flop of 10♦9♥3♣ didn't change much. The 9♠ on the turn left the small blind cheering for a ten, but that wasn't going to help his case. The river was the 9♦ and Jones' full house was slightly better, bringing an end to the day.

With the elimination of John Holley, the field is now down to 28 players and they will start the hand-for-hand portion of this flight. There will be one more hand at this level before the blinds go up.

Carson Ray opened to 20,000 in the hijack and Phillip Rix called from the cutoff on his left. They went heads-up to a flop of 10♦4♠2♦ and Ray continued with a bet of 25,000. Rix went into the tank, counting his chips, and deliberating for a minute before making the call.
The turn brought the 8♥ and Ray dropped in another bet of 40,000. Rix wasted little time this go around as he quickly dumped his cards into the muck. Ray did the table a favor and flashed his A♦10♣ as he raked in the pot.

Jonathan Fry was down to just 68,000 chips and moved all in from the hijack. The button woke up with a monster and called to put Fry at risk.
Jonathan Fry: Q♣J♥
Opponent: A♠A♥
The flop came A♣K♣3♣ and Fry was starting at a set of aces, albeit he picked up straight and flush draws. The 2♥ on the turn had Fry walking away from the table but the 5♣ hit the river to give him a double up instead.
"I was hoping you would flop an ace, actually," Fry said after the hand.

Nicholas Rigby and John Holley were heads-up after each committing 20,000 apiece preflop. The flop came A♠K♣7♣ and Rigby checked to Holley who counted out a bet of 50,000. Rigby called and the 9♥ landed on the turn.
Rigby checked again and Holley announced all in as the bigger stack. Rigby went into the tank for a minute before calling off his last 60,000 chips.
Nicholas Rigby: A♦4♦
John Holley: A♣8♣
Holley had the better kicker for now and a flush draw to go along with it. There were lots of potential chops to keep Rigby alive but he found the outright winner in the form of the 4♠ to double up.

The action folded to the button who raised to 15,000. Wesley Jones three-bet to 50,000 in the small blind and Sukhjinder Hare four-bet shoved all in for 124,000 in the big blind. The button quickly folded and Jones asked for a count before making the call.
Sukhjinder Hare: A♦K♦
Wesley Jones: A♠Q♠
The flop came 9♠7♠6♠ and Jones nailed a flush which brought Hare to his feet. The 9♣ on the turn and the A♣ on the river completed the board which eliminated Hare and brought the field down to four tables.
