Weigand Scores a Check-Raise on the River

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

Thurman Garner opened to 600 from under the gun and was called by Alexandru Vasilescu and Douglas Weigand in the blinds. The flop came 1094 and the action checked to Garner who continued with a bet of 700. Both of the blinds called and the 7 landed on the turn.

It checked to Garner again who threw in another bet of 1,000. Vasilescu folded this time but Weigand called to see the 6 on the river. Weigand checked one more time and Garner threw in a bet of 2,000. Weigand check-raised to 10,000 and Garner was forced to throw away his cards.

Welcome to Day 1a of the 2025 RGPS Grand Prix Tunica Main Event

RunGood Grand Prix Ring
RunGood Grand Prix Ring

The RunGood Poker Series Grand Prix makes its return to the Horseshoe Tunica in Mississippi for the $600 Main Event this weekend. With a $200,000 guaranteed prizepool, this stop is widely considered one of the busiest on the popular mid-stakes tour. Multiple events have already crowned champions throughout the week and now it's time for the lights to be turned up for the marquee event.

There will be three starting flights taking place for the Main Event, the first of which will be getting underway this evening at 6 p.m. local time. The other two will commence at staggered start times tomorrow, with any of the players advancing returning for the final day on Sunday, November 16.

When the cards are pitched for the first time tonight, all purchased starting stacks of 30,000 chips will be in play. The levels will be 30 minutes in length for all of the Day 1 flights, with the blinds starting at 100/200 and a 200 big blind ante. There will be a 15-minute break after every four levels with no dinner break currently scheduled.

Registration will be open until the start of level nine, which will be approximately 10:30 p.m. tonight. There will be unlimited reentries available for anyone who is unfortunate to be eliminated during the registration period. Should a player bag up chips in multiple starting flights, only their largest stack will be carried forward to Day 2.

Play will continue until just 12.5% (rounded down) of the field remains. Everyone who makes it through to Day 2 will be in the money.

The PokerNews live reporting team will be here to bring you updates throughout the event en route to crowning another RGPS champion.
