Day 1a Completed
Day 1a of the 2025 RGPS Mission RunGood Kansas City $1,100 Main Event is in the books. A total of 160 hopefuls made their way to Harrah’s Kansas City for the first of three opening flights in the last main event of the RunGood season.
However, at the end of the night around 2 a.m., just 20 players remained and put their chips in a bag for Sunday’s Day 2.
Leading the way from today’s Day 1a was Jesse Jones who bagged an impressive 1,112,000, over 37 starting stacks. Jones won a massive flip with ace-king suited against ace-queen and pocket queens followed by another huge pot with queens against ace-queen. He would become the big stack bully for the rest of the night as he began his quest for a second RunGood Main Event title.

The 160 entries from today bested last year’s Day 1a total of 138, with a big turnout expected for tomorrow. The prize pool has already reached $155,200, over 60% of the way to the guarantee after just one flight.
Play concluded with one minute remaining in Level 14 with blinds at 3,000/6,000 with a 6,000 big blind ante. Play will resume here on Day 2 unless one of tomorrow’s flights finishes earlier.
There are still two more starting flights to come tomorrow. Day 1b kicks off at 11 a.m. local time while Day 1c starts at 5 p.m. Both flights follow the same structure as today with 30,000 starting chips and 30 minute levels through Level 8 and 40 minutes Level 9 onward, with 12.5% of the field advancing to Sunday’s Day 2.

The remaining 20 players are bagging and tagging for Sunday's Day 2.
Stay tuned for chip counts and a recap of the day.
A player moved all-in for his final 36,000 from the hijack and Jesse Jones called in the small blind.
Hijack: A♦Q♠
Jesse Jones: 6♠6♣
The J♠10♣8♦ flop brought additional outs for the at-risk player. However, the board ran out 2♠4♣ and Jones held on to close out the day.
With 21 players remaining and 20 being in the money, play will continue hand-for-hand at three tables until another player is eliminated. Nine minutes remain in Level 14.
Alvaro Beitiamadrid limped under the gun before the player to his left raised to 20,000, and Munoz called.
On the 5♠5♣2♦ flop, Beitiamadrid checked to his opponent who bet 20,000. Beitiamadrid clicked it to 40,000 before his opponent jammed for 111,000 effective as the covering stack and Beitiamadrid snapped it off.
Alvaro Beitiamadrid: 6♥5♥
Early Position: J♥J♦
Beitiamadrid was primed for the double with trip fives until the J♠ peeled off on the turn to give his opponent top boat. Beitiamadrid could not find the one-outer on the A♥ river as he exited three from the money.
Jason Hunter limped from under the gun before Jim Indiveri jammed for 75,000 from the button and Hunter snapped it off.
Jim Indiveri: 7♥4♥
Jason Hunter: A♥Q♣
Indiveri found some help on the K♥6♦3♥ flop as he picked up a flush draw to go along with live pair outs. However, the board ran out J♣3♣ and he was sent to the rail just four spots from the money.
Level: 14
Blinds: 3,000/6,000
Ante: 6,000
A player opened to 11,000 from under the gun and Jesse Jones called next to act. From middle position, Eric Kyle three-bet to 30,000 and both opponents called.
The 9♦7♠2♠ flop checked through to the K♥ turn which saw the under the gun player bet 30,000, and only Jones called.
On the 3♦ river, the under the gun player cut out a bet of 65,000. Jones responded with an all-in for 160,000 effective as the covering stack. Over three minutes would run off the clock before his opponent finally decided to let it go, as Jones becomes the runaway chip-leader from this flight.
