John Roberts ended Day 1a second overall in chips after bagging 712,000. The first flight of the Main Event was the smallest of the four, drawing just 65 entries, with eight players advancing to Day 2. Roberts climbed to the top of the leaderboard thanks in large part to a brutal cooler, where his opponent rivered an ace-high flush, only to be beaten by Roberts’ queen-high straight flush. Trailing Roberts on the Day 1a leaderboard were William Henricks (319,000) and World Series of Poker bracelet winner Kyle Cartwright (295,000).
Day 1b of the Main Event drew a total of 179 entrants, with 22 players advancing to Day 2. At the end of the night, it was Nick Syrigos who topped the chip counts, bagging 645,000. Close behind were Corey Nazaruk with 525,000 and Josh Hawkins with 374,000, rounding out the top three stacks.
Overall chip leader Foley emerged from the largest of the four Day 1 flights, Day 1c, which drew 223 entrants and saw 28 players advance to Day 2. Trailing Foley are Cory Plante with 589,000 and Gilbert Shadowens with 535,000, rounding out the top three stacks from the flight. Also advancing was RGPS Player of the Year leader Michael Johns, who will look to extend his lead with another deep run.
Day 1d saw 171 entrants take their final shot at reaching Day 2, with 21 players advancing and it was Keith McKuin who led the way, bagging 625,000 for the final day. Trailing behind him were Mark Collins with 475,000 and Joe Daniels with 400,000. After finishing as the bubble boy on Day 1b, RGPS ambassador Jeff Copeland bounced back and secured a Day 2 bag with 193,000.
Action will resume on April 6 at 12:00 p.m. local time in level 15 with 40 minutes remaining, at the 4000/8000 8,000 big blind ante blind levels. Players will play 40 MINUTE levels and take a 15-minute break after every three levels of play and play until a champion is crowned.
