The first RunGood Poker Series stop in New Orleans since 2015 crowned a champion last fall, with Jeremy Gaubert outlasting the 307-entry field in the RGPS Grand Prix New Orleans $800 Main Event.
While Gaubert has been grinding live tournaments in the South for over 15 years, this was only his third cash at a RunGood event and he made sure to make it count, claiming his first RGPS ring and the top prize of $45,897.
“Feeling good," Gaubert told PokerNews following the win. "I just got second place in Coushatta like three weeks ago. Took a bad beat heads-up. So this was a good feeling to finally win it.”

John Marcello from the big blind, Brock Sawyer out of middle position, and Timothy Sanderson from the cutoff all put in 1,200 each preflop to create a three-handed pot.
The J♥9♥Q♥ flop resulted in a check from Marcello. Sawyer fired 1,500 and was called by both Sanderson and Marcello.
Marcello checked again on the 6♣ turn. Sawyer followed with a bet of 3,500 before Sanderson pumped it up to 8,000 total. Marcello folded, but Sawyer came along with a call.
The Q♦ river was checked by Sawyer. Sanderson put out a wager of 10,000 and was quickly called by Sawyer.
Sanderson revealed A♥4♥ for a flopped ace-high flush, much to the dismay of Sawyer, who showed 6♥5♥ for an inferior flopped flush.

Corey Allen began the action with an open to 800 from early position. Rudy Remont called from the cutoff. Louis Lipps joined with a call from the small blind, and James Morris hopped in with a call from the big blind.
The 3♦Q♥9♦ flop was checked to Remont, who fired a wager of 1,000. Lipps and Morris called, but Allen folded.
It checked to Remont again on the 4♠ turn. Remont bet 2,000 and was only called by Lipps.
The 2♦ river did not slow down Remont, who bet 3,000 after it was checked to him. Lipps put in the call to go to showdown.
Remont showed that he flopped a big hand when he tabled Q♣Q♠ for top set to take down the pot.

Scott Ryals made it 1,200 from early position before Crystal Galyon three-bet to 2,500 from the hijack. Ryals made the call.
Ryals checked the 10♥6♥6♠ flop before Galyon continued for 2,500. Ryals stuck around with a call.
The 9♦ turn was checked by both players, bringing the 9♥ river. Ryals took the initiative with a bet of 5,000 on the river. Galyon mucked her hand in response, to award the pot to Ryals.

Hopefuls will have one last day to attempt to qualify for Day 2 as the RunGood Poker Series Golden Expedition New Orleans $800 Main Event will host two final starting flights at Caesars New Orleans.
Day 1b concluded last evening. The second flight of the main event hosted a total of 38 players, which permitted four players to advance to Day 2. Preston McEwen (442,000) topped the chip counts for Day 1b. Michael Sepanik (343,000), Sidney Johnson (175,000), and Trent Marcelle (175,000) rounded out the four players to advance to Day 2 from the second flight.
McEwen is one of the most successful players in RunGood history with 11 RGPS rings to his name. His last ring came at the RGPS Horseshoe Tunica Grand Prix when he took down the $200 Guest Bounty event. His biggest RunGood score came in 2024 when he was crowned champion in the $600 Main Event at Tunica for $58,143. He has tallied over three million in earnings according to his The Hendon Mob profile.
Sepanik has one cash this series, when he made the money in the $600 Kickoff event. He will look to continue his momentum as he enters Day 2 on Sunday.
Johnson will aim to add a second RGPS ring to his name this series after he won the $600 Monster Stack event earlier this week. Johnson has tallied nearly eighty thousand in live career earnings per The Hendon Mob and has two RunGood rings to his name in total.
Marcelle is still searching for his first RGPS title and will have an opportunity to make a big splash should he make a run on Day 2.
Saturday will host Day 1c at 12:15 p.m. Day 1d is slated to start at 6:15 p.m. All times are local.

Entrants will begin with a starting stack of 30,000. Blind levels are scheduled for 30 minutes on Day 1. They will increase to 40-minute blind levels on Day 2. Breaks are scheduled every two hours.
Players are entitled to unlimited reentries. Players who qualify for Day 2 more than once will be permitted to advance with their largest stack and forfeit their other stack(s) and receive a Day 2 minimum payout per forfeited stack. Players may also forfeit their stack at the end of Level 8 and re-enter for $800 and receive a fresh starting stack at the beginning of Level 9.
A total of 12.5% of the field from each starting flight, rounded down, will advance to Day 2.
