"The Legend" Mike Scarborough Bags Close to a Million on Day 1c of the RGPS Southern Indiana Main Event
“Just put I bagged a milly.”
That’s how Mike Scarborough capped off his day today. The self-proclaimed “legend” took an overwhelming chip lead as 19 players survived Day 1c of the RunGood Poker Series Golden Expedition Southern Indiana $800 Main Event.
Scarbourgh busted Shane Collins on the money bubble to finish with 989,000, putting him well clear of the rest of the field heading to Day 2. He first built a big stack when he flopped a flush to crack Dan LaDuke’s kings. Scarborough is no stranger to success at Caesars Southern Indiana, taking down the WSOP Circuit Main Event held here in 2023. He also made the final table of this same event back in May, while his poker resume also includes a WPT title from 2011, where he defeated Hall of Famer Erik Seidel heads-up.

Jonathon Murphy sits far behind Scarborough in second place with 624,000, while defending champion Jasper May ended up in third place with 482,000. Others to make it through Day 1c include James Lyle (391,000), Charles Edlin (213,000), Dale Stafford (210,000), John Frenz (166,000), and RunGood ambassador Matthew Lawrence (124,000). The 19 survivors from Day 1c will join the 13 from the first two flights on Day 2 tomorrow at 1 p.m. local time.
A total of 159 players packed into the Caesars Southern Indiana poker room today. Among those who couldn’t make it thorugh the day were Matt Vaughan, Alan Percal, RunGood Gateway Poker Classic runner-up Ben Miller, WSOP bracelet winner Ronnie Day, and Kenneth Baime.
The total field stands at 275 through three starting flights. There is still the Day 1d flight that is ongoing, with 96 players currently registered on Level 5.
The action tomorrow picks up on the earliest finishing time from one of the starting flights. That remains the mark set on the first day, with 23 minutes remaining in Level 15 with blinds of 4,000/8,000 and an 8,000 big blind ante. The official prize pool should be announced shortly after the start of the day.
