“Just put I bagged a milly.”
That’s how Mike Scarborough capped off his day today. The self-proclaimed “legend” took an overwhelming chip lead as 19 players survived Day 1c of the RunGood Poker Series Golden Expedition Southern Indiana $800 Main Event.
Scarbourgh busted Shane Collins on the money bubble to finish with 989,000, putting him well clear of the rest of the field heading to Day 2. He first built a big stack when he flopped a flush to crack Dan LaDuke’s kings. Scarborough is no stranger to success at Caesars Southern Indiana, taking down the WSOP Circuit Main Event held here in 2023. He also made the final table of this same event back in May, while his poker resume also includes a WPT title from 2011, where he defeated Hall of Famer Erik Seidel heads-up.

Jonathon Murphy sits far behind Scarborough in second place with 624,000, while defending champion Jasper May ended up in third place with 482,000. Others to make it through Day 1c include James Lyle (391,000), Charles Edlin (213,000), Dale Stafford (210,000), John Frenz (166,000), and RunGood ambassador Matthew Lawrence (124,000). The 19 survivors from Day 1c will join the 13 from the first two flights on Day 2 tomorrow at 1 p.m. local time.
A total of 159 players packed into the Caesars Southern Indiana poker room today. Among those who couldn’t make it thorugh the day were Matt Vaughan, Alan Percal, RunGood Gateway Poker Classic runner-up Ben Miller, WSOP bracelet winner Ronnie Day, and Kenneth Baime.
The total field stands at 275 through three starting flights. There is still the Day 1d flight that is ongoing, with 96 players currently registered on Level 5.
The action tomorrow picks up on the earliest finishing time from one of the starting flights. That remains the mark set on the first day, with 23 minutes remaining in Level 15 with blinds of 4,000/8,000 and an 8,000 big blind ante. The official prize pool should be announced shortly after the start of the day.

Matthew Lawrence moved all in for 50,000 in the hijack and Dan Haag called in the big blind.

The two opponents were racing on the bubble, and Lawrence took the lead on the K♥Q♠Q♥ flop with two pair. The Q♣ turn improved him to a full house and left Haag drawing dead. The river was the Q♦, and Lawrence won the pot with the four queens on board and his ace-kicker to secure the double up.
At the same time at another table, Shane Collins was already all in from the big blind as Brian Cutsinger and Mike Scarborough went to a flop of 3♠2♥8♠. Both players checked to the 8♣ turn, where Scarborough bet 35,000 from under the gun. Cutsinger folded in the hijack.
Scarborough showed A♠3♦ for two pair, while Collins only looked at one and flipped over the A♣. "It could be ace-eight," Scarborough told him, but Collins instead turned over the 9♥. The river was the 8♥, and Collins was eliminated on the bubble.
The remaining 19 players are bagging up their chips for the night.

James Rion raised to 20,000 in middle position and was called by Doug Simon in the hijack, Jasper May on the button, and Dan Haag in the big blind.
The action checked around to May on the 5♣8♣2♣ flop, and he bet 40,000. Haag then moved all in for 65,000 and Rion and Simon folded, while May called.

May was able to show only queen-high, while Haag was ahead with ace-high and a flush draw. The board ran out 2♥3♠, and Haag doubled up.

May picked up a straight draw on the 8♣4♦5♦ flop, but he improved no further on the 10♥ turn or 4♠ river as Hicks' king-kicker continued to play to earn him a double up.

Simon barely had Poole covered as they went to the flop, which came 9♥6♣6♠. Simon's pair held up through the 2♣ turn and 3♣ river, and Poole was sent to the rail.
At another table, Andrew Murray was forced all in from the big blind as Mike Scarborough in the cutoff and Brian Cutsinger in the small blind checked down a board of K♦J♠3♥9♦5♦. Cutsinger ended up with 9♥4♦ for a pair of nines, and Murray mucked 4♥2♦ as he headed to the exit.
With 20 players remaining, action is going hand-for-hand until there is one more elimination.
