After two days of action on the felt at the inaugural stop of the 2026 RunGood Poker Series Passport Season back in January, Jesse Jones triumphed over Joshua Hatfield in the $800 Main Event, earning a payday of $34,074, along with his third RGPS ring.
Hosted by Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa, the event drew 209 entries, all of whom braved the frigid, snowy weather here in Oklahoma. Of those, only 23 players advanced and returned for the final day of action. Jones entered Day 2 as the runaway chip leader, and it looked as if he was going to have a smooth day at the office all the way through.
Hatfield had other plans and made Jones' victory anything but easy once heads-up play began. After a lengthy duel, in which the chip lead swapped back and forth multiple times, Jones accomplished what he set out to do and claimed the lion's share of the $146,300 prize pool.

Bruce Vang clashed with Hank Shephard as Vang was all-in for 26,000 from the hijack and was called by Shephard from the big blind. Vang was at risk.
Bruce Vang: A♦10♠
Hank Shephard: Q♣Q♦
Vang needed to find an ace as he ran into the pocket queens of Shephard and was in trouble.
The ace never came on the J♥7♦6♣5♠8♥ runout as Vang was eliminated by Shephard.
Jason Cashion opened to 4,000 from early position before Brent Spencer went all-in for 26,500 from the hijack. Cashion called and put Spencer at risk.
Brent Spencer: 7♦7♥
Jason Cashion: A♥J♣
Spencer needed to fade the overcards, and the flop complied with that prerogative when it came 3♣9♦9♠.
The Q♥ turn was safe for Spencer, and the 8♠ river completed the runout as Spencer secured the double.

The pot had about 13,000 in it when this hand was picked up on the flop of 4♦K♠8♦.
Jack Willman bet 6,000 from early position and was called by Hank Shephard from the next seat over.
Both players chose to check the 10♥ turn before the A♠ river.
Willman checked again, but this time Shephard bet 6,000. Willman put in the call as they went to a showdown.
Shephard showed A♦Q♣, which was good, as Willman revealed he had kicker problems with A♣J♦.
This hand was picked up after the pot had swelled to approximately 34,000 on the flop of 9♠3♣K♦. The big blind and the hijack both checked before Gene Janushanis opted to bet 9,000 on the button. The big blind folded, but the hijack came along with a call.
Both players knuckled the 3♦ turn, ushering in the 10♦ river. The hijack opted to take the betting lead with a wager of 15,000. Janushanis was not in the calling mood, as he chose instead to go all-in for about 58,000.
The hijack did not think long before he folded, awarding the pot to Janushanis.
Bruce Vang calls Minnesota home and doesn’t come to Oklahoma with the express motivation to play poker, but rather to relax and enjoy some time away from home. Despite that, he hasn’t been shy about firing at events when they happen to line up with his visit.
This course of events is what happened a few days ago when Vang opted to enter the $300 Seniors event at the RunGood Poker Series Golden Expedition Hard Rock Tulsa. The decision was a good one as Vang scored his first RunGood ring. He outlasted 145 entries and took down the top prize of $8,627.
“Winning the seniors made me feel like I’m coming back slowly,” said Vang. “It gave me the chance to chase the big dance. Hopefully this is the start of planning for the WSOP.”
Vang shared with PokerNews that he’s been playing poker for over 30 years. Vang considers himself more of a cash game player, but takes his shot at tournaments with regularity.
Although Vang describes himself as a cash game player, his tournament results are not bereft of cashes, as he has racked up over $100,000 in live career earnings according to his The Hendon Mob page.
He credits his ongoing process of improving as a player for winning his first RunGood ring and feels like he’s found a wavelength that works for him as far as his game.
“Throughout the years in my experience playing, I’ve been changing my play often,” said Vang. “I started realizing I found something I’m comfortable with, and I want to see where this goes.”
Vang described his Day 1a session here at the RGPS Golden Expedition $800 Main Event as “up and down.”
He currently sits with about 41,000 as he aims to make it two rings in on week here at the Hard Rock Tulsa.
Registration for Day 1a has concluded. The flight had a total of 65 entries, which permits a total of eight players to advance to Day 2 from this flight.
