Marc Gardner bet 5,000 from early position on a board of 2♠K♥Q♥10♥ before Craig Dick moved all in for 23,100 on the button. "Ah, man. It's a weird time to do that," Gardner moaned as he took a minute before calling.
He showed A♠K♦ for top pair, while Dick was on a flush draw with A♥8♠. The 9♦ river was no help to Dick, and he was sent to the rail.
"And it's his birthday today," the dealer said about Gardner, who received the big pot as a present.
With around 15,000 in the pot on a flop of 3♠10♠8♣, Jim Wyatt moved all in for 21,000 from middle position, Lonnie Price reshoved in the cutoff, and the rest of the table got out of the way.
Jim Wyatt: 10♦9♦
Lonnie Price: Q♦Q♣
Wyatt had flopped top pair, but Price was ahead with his queens. The rest of the board ran out J♠J♦, and Wyatt was sent to the rail.
Blair Hinkle took his seat in the tournament shortly after coming back from break, as did Day 1a bubble boy Ben McCoy.
Huy Nguyen three-bet to 16,000 in the small blind and Cody Krause called in the hijack.
The flop came 9♣3♠3♣ and Nguyen moved all in. Krause snap-called for his last 22,000.
Cody Krause: 10♣10♠
Huy Nguyen: Q♦Q♠
Krause showed two tens, but Nguyen had him dominated with his queens. The Q♥ turn improved Nguyen to a full house, and Krause was drawing dead going to the 5♦ river and headed to the rail.
"Easy come, easy go," Krause said.
Heads-up on a board of 10♦K♥4♣8♦, Brantley Grace bet 3,500 from the button and an opponent called in middle position.
The river was the Q♣ and the middle-position player moved all in for 7,500. Grace snap-called and turned over K♠K♣ for top set, while his opponent could only show Q♠4♠ for two pair as he headed to the rail.

Players are going on the first 20-minute break of the day.
On a flop of 5♥6♥K♥, Cody Krause got in his last 22,000 from early position, a player on the button also moved all in for 30,000, and the cutoff had both players covered and at risk.
Cody Krause: A♠K♣
Button: 6♣6♦
Cutoff: J♥8♥
The cutoff had flopped a flush to take the lead, but the K♦ turn improved the button to a full house. Krause also got some hope with trips, and he hit the A♥ on the river to make a full house and earn the miraculous triple up.
"You better win this now. From worst to first," a tablemate told him.
Four-handed on a flop of K♥10♣5♦, Brent Gregory bet 2,500 from under the gun and only an opponent on the button called.
Both players checked the 6♠ turn. Gregory then bet 6,000 on the 9♥ river, and his opponent quickly called.
Gregory showed A♦K♣ for top pair, and his opponent mucked A♣10♠.
