Rigby bagging as a chip leader is not out of the ordinary lately, as he has been on an absolute tear at RunGood events in recent weeks. Rigby won three RGPS rings at RGPS Passport St. Louis just one month ago. Rigby has since added another ring to his count earlier today by winning the RGPS Passport Joplin No-Limit Hold’em One Day Ring Event for $8,462.
Rigby spoke with PokerNews about what he attributes to his recent success at the RunGood events, which has helped him collect four rings in one month.
“I think I’ve built an excellent image for myself,” Rigby said. “People never think I have it, so I get a lot of value with my hands.”
Rigby has a total of seven RunGood rings in his collection, but he shared that winning a second main event title is something he values.
“I’ve only won one main event so far, so I would love to get another,” Rigby said.
Rigby stated that he will look to keep the momentum going as he has his eyes set on the National Heads-Up Championship and the World Series of Poker in the upcoming months.
Rigby will find out on Sunday if another RGPS main event title is in the cards.
Rigby isn’t the only player to make it out of Day 1a looking to add additional rings to their collection, as Tucker is aiming to secure his third RGPS victory and add to his over $150,000 in earnings at RGPS events throughout his poker career.
Kenny Baggett (282,000) is also another RGPS ring holder who will aim to add to his collection after scoring a spot on Day 2. Baggett is chasing his second RGPS ring on Sunday.
Notables who took their shot on Day 1a, but were unable to qualify, include Rodney Spriggs, Blair Hinkle, Brian Winter, and AP Phahurat.

Naga Valiveti shoved for 65,000 from the hijack and was called by Nicholas Rigby from the cutoff to be at risk.
Naga Valiveti: A♥9♠
Nicholas Rigby: K♦10♦
Valiveti was in position to double up, and the flop kept him in the lead when it fanned out 2♥5♠Q♦.
The turn was a disaster for Valiveti as the 10♣ peeled on the turn to vault Rigby into the lead.
The 3♣ river completed the board and was the final card any player would see on Day 1a as the remaining 13 players will advance to Day 2.
Play is now hand-for-hand on Day 1a of the RGPS Passport Joplin $600 Main Event.
Benjamin Dixon jammed for his final 48,000 from early position before Joseph Gatlin went all-in from the hijack to put Dixon at risk after the rest of the table folded.
Benjamin Dixon: A♥3♣
Joseph Gatlin: A♠J♠
Dixon was in trouble against the better ace of Gatlin, and the flop did Dixon no favors as it came K♦K♥J♥ to give Gatlin two pair.
The 4♣ turn, and the 7♠ river would be the final cards Dixon would see on Day 1a.
Seth Entwisle jammed from early position, and Jimmy Litton called on the button for less to be at risk for his tournament life.
Jimmy Litton: 3♥3♦
Seth Entwisle: A♠J♥
Litton held the slight edge preflop, but the flop changed that in a hurry when it came J♣4♦Q♣ to give Entwisle a pair of jacks to take the commanding lead.
The 9♠ turn, and the Q♥ river altered nothing as Litton was eliminated.
Level: 13
Blinds: 3,000/5,000
Ante: 5,000
The remaining 17 players are on a 10-minute break. Play will resume at the 3,000/5,000 level.
Nicholas Rigby got the action going with a raise to 10,000 from under-the-gun. Rigby was called by Seth Entwisle from early position, Christopher Self from the hijack, Kenny Baggett from the cutoff, Michael Hopkins on the button, and Jimmy Litton in the big blind as a crowd of players took a flop.
Baggett bet 25,000 on the 9♠2♣10♦ flop after it was checked to him. Only Litton called.
The Q♣ led to a bet of 40,000 from Litton, and Baggett called.
Litton checked the J♠ river before Baggett announced all-in. Litton quickly folded to award the pot to Baggett.
