Welko, who is among the leaders in the RGPS Player of the Year race, led out on the 5♥ river for 900. That was enough to take down an early pot, as the button folded.
The RunGood Poker Series Passport Season has returned to Jamul Casino Resort, with the first of three opening flights in the $600 Main Event kicking off tonight at 6:00 p.m. local time.
The event carries a $150,000 guaranteed prize pool, and the final starting days will follow on Saturday, February 21 at 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. in Southern California. The week will see a total of 12 RGPS rings awarded, with all of the action wrapping up on Sunday, February 22.
Last time in San Diego, Maksim Tatarintsev took down the RGPS Grand Prix San Diego $600 Main Event for the second year in a row, earning the top prize of $38,890.
Tatarintsev took home the largest piece of the $180,960 prize pool after outlasting 348 entrants to secure a second RGPS main event title. Zach Kelley finished as the runner-up to earn $27,250.
Tatarintsev has already had a successful week here at Jamul Casino Resort, finishing fourth in the $300 PokerNews PowerStack event.

Each player will sit down with a stack of 30,000 chips, and Day 1a will begin with blinds of 100/200 and a 200 big blind ante. Action will continue until just 12.5% of the field remains, rounded down to produce the number advancing to Day 2.
The first eight levels of the day will be 30 minutes in length, with breaks occurring after every two hours of play. The event features unlimited reentries, and late registration remains open until the start of Level 9.
From that point, the remaining levels will be expanded to 40 minutes for the rest of the tournament. Day 2 blinds will begin at the lowest level of play during the Day 1 flights.
