Trips Good for Rion

Level 2 : Blinds 200/300, 300 ante

Action went five-ways to a flop of 2QQ where everyone checked to the 5 turn.

James Rion led out for 1,000 in the small blind and only the player on the button called.

On the 9 river, Rion led out again, this time for 2,000, and the button flicked in the call.

Rion tabled KQ for trip queens and the button nodded his head before mucking his cards.

Johnson Gets Some Respect

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

The player in the hijack raised to 600, Michael Chilton three-bet to 1,500 in the cutoff, and Kevin Johnson cold four-bet to 4,500 in the big blind. Only Chilton called.

The dealer put out a monotone flop of 648 and Johnson continued with a bet of 1,300. Chilton made the call.

The turn landed the 4 and Johnson bet again, this time for 5,000. Chilton called once more and the 6 rolled off on the river.

Johnson then moved all in for 14,100 to put himself at risk.

"I'm gonna show you some respect, sir," said Chilton as he tossed JJ into the muck.

Action went heads-up to a flop of A2K in a hand between Rodney Deaton on the button and Matthew Redding in the big blind.

Redding check-called a bet of 1,100, bringing the 5 turn, where he led out for 2,100. Deaton called and the river fell the 4.

Redding check-folded when Deaton fired out a bet of 7,000 and the pot was pushed Deaton's way.

RGPS Passport Southern Indiana Main Event Continues with Day 1b

Caesars Southern Indiana
Caesars Southern Indiana

The RunGood Poker Series Passport Southern Indiana continues with Day 1b of the $800 Main Event taking place today at 6:00 p.m. local time. The tournament features a $200,000 guaranteed prize pool, with four Day 1 starting flights taking place over three days. Players who advance from each flight will combine and return on Sunday, May 3, for Day 2, when a winner will be crowned.

Last summer, the 2025 Grand Prix edition of the event attracted 358 runners, and through the first starting flight, 46 entries have been tallied this time around. Only 5 of those competitors will be advancing to Day 2, all of whom have already made the money. The field size should grow substantially as the Friday and Saturday flights play out, heading into the Kentucky Derby weekend.

Gene Grieshaber concluded Day 1a as the player on top with a staggering 642,000. Shon Smith (289,000) and Kurt Jewell (249,000) bagged the middle stacks, while Brevin Andreadis (109,000) and Shane Ball (66,000) finished at the bottom of the pack.

Players will begin each starting flight with 30,000 in chips and blinds will begin at 100/200 with a 200 big blind ante. Blinds will be 30 minutes in length during the Day 1 flights and will increase to 40 minutes for Day 2. Late registration is open until the start of Level 9, where players have the option to forfeit their stack and reenter for $800.

Should a player choose to play multiple Day 1 flights, only the highest qualifying stack will be permitted to continue to Day 2. Any lower stack(s) will be removed from play at the start of Day 2 and receive a min-cash.

Play for Day 1 flights will conclude once 12.5% of the field (rounded down) remains and those who bag will be in the money. Day 2 will then start at the earliest blind level of the four flights on Sunday, May 3, where the event will play down to a winner.
