The first of five opening flights saw 13 players survive from a field of 103 entries, helping to built towards surpassing the $250,000 guaranteed prize pool that awaits those that advance to Day 2. The next opportunity to qualify begins at 11:15 a.m. local time, when Day 1b kicks off. That will be followed by Day 1c later today at 5:15 p.m. along with the final two flights on Saturday, June 20.

Leading the field after the first day of action was Jeffery Sowell, bagging up a healthy lead with 794,000 chips. That was followed by Sergey Dadonkin (540,000) in second, while Juan Rodriguez (504,000) completed the top three stacks to set the benchmark everyone will be chasing.

Day 1a reached the money bubble on Level 15, the final 30-minute level on the schedule. Any action beyond that point will lengthen to 40-minute levels, though Day 2 blinds will be rolled back to the earliest flight finish.

Players participating in the remaining flights will begin with 40,000 chips, looking to navigate their way into the top 12% of the field before earning a spot in the money on Day 2.

Blinds will once again start at 100/200, along with a 200 big blind ante. All flights feature unlimited reentry, and players can participate in as many opening flights as they like. Should a player survive the day more than once, their largest stack will carry forward into the money and they will earn a $1,500 bonus for each additional bag.

The Day 1 structure includes 15-minute breaks after every four levels of action, and registration will close prior to the start of Level 9.

As an added bonus to players this week, all players who reach the Main Event final table will have a chance to win a $2,000 RunGood in Aruba travel package live on The Lodge YouTube stream. The winner of the PLO high hand flip will score a package to the inaugural RGPS Aruba stop, taking place September 17–23.
